Today I am thrilled to share this stunning Glasgow Engagement Shoot with a splash of Red captured in in the cities leafy Southside.
Images of the day were captured by by Nicola Cooney Photography.
Nicola tells us a littlle about herself, and shares her recollections of a lovely afternoon…
“My name is Nicky, I live outside the Village of Dunlop in East Ayrshire with my Husband, two little children, a Mini Schnauzer, a Cat, 10 chickens, a Guinea Pig and a Shetland Pony called Apollo.”
“I love nature, Coffee, interesting clouds, open fires, old stuff, soul Music and finding beauty in every single thing.”
“My love (and need) for photography started when my Daughter, Mia, was born almost 6 years ago (Gosh!)”
“I wanted to make sure I could document every change in her as she grew up, document her relationship with the favourite people in our lives and also to show the world how beautiful she was!”
“Taking pictures every single day made me realise the importance of this art form. And so, the start of a new passion!”
“My husband bought me a compact digital camera, a Fujifilm Finepix camera that I used for 2 years until I really realised that photography is where I wanted to go.”
“Then when my beautiful little boy, Miles was born, I received my first DSLR.”
“It was an obsession for me, but with two children 15 months apart, it was just a hobby, until 2 years ago when I realised this was what I was created to do in life.”
“I started out taking portraits of children, families and new born babies, but soon after I took the very rewarding plunge into the world of Wedding Photography.”
“This is where my true passion lies, it is an honour to be asked to document such an important part of a couples lives and I aim to do this in the most un-intrusive and creative way possible.”
“Years and months of planning is involved, and I want to do this justice. I adore capturing relationships, expressions of love, comedy moments on the dancefloor and all the details that make a wedding day unique to that couple.”
“My couple, Laurie and Tony got In touch with me when their daughter, Elizabeth was a little one.”
“I have been doing her portraits now for 3 years, so was delighted when they asked me to be their wedding photographer.”
“They’re from the Southside of Glasgow so it made perfect sense they chose Polloksheilds Burgh Hall as their venue, which is stunning inside and out!”
“When arranging the Engagement shoot we decided we could treat it as a pre-wedding chat/venue scout and coffee break all in one, so that’s why we chose Maxwell Park! which adjoins the Burgh.”
“We took advantage of the pond, the beautiful trees and the many coffee shops that are dotted along the way.”
“When Laurie asked what they should wear the first thing I thought was “Anything Red” and they pulled it off so well.”
“My aim in an Engagement shoot is to capture the true love in an honest way, to reflect each couples personality, and with this shoot I believe we captured some really special moments.”
Thank you so much to Nicky for sharing this gorgeous Glasgow Engagement Shoot.
Today, March 7th is the couples Big Day and I wish them a beautiful celebration and an incredible future as husband and wife!
Their Wedding is to be an intimate affair, with handmade loveliness and the cutest Flower Girl you ever did see.
I just love the vibrant read against the grittiness of city streets and the leafy surrounds of the cities parks, it really pops with the colour and makes for some remarkable imagery.
