Today I am delighted to share this lovely London Southbank Engagement Shoot with beautiful views of city sights.
Images were captured by Nicola Rowley Photography.
Ever since she can recall, Nicola Rowley has always loved photography.
It’s a passion that was passed on to her by her dad, and she still remembers the day when he bought her her first camera, aged seven.
Fast forward a few years and when she met husband Matt spent a lot of time exploring different countries, both of them with their cameras never far from their sides.
But the thing that fascinates her more than anything else is people, and being able to capture their personalities and emotions at any given moment, to create stylish, timeless images that can be looked back on for years to come.
After training with some of the most respected photographers in the industry, and lots of prompting from those closest to her, she launched her business and have already won national awards from The Guild of Photographers.
It helps that she understands photography, and know what works and what doesn’t.
It also means that she understands the importance of attention to detail and how to help make whoever is on the other side of the camera feel relaxed, even when they’re worried or uncomfortable about having their picture taken.
She says of the couple…
“When I first met Andrea and Leon for their pre-wedding consultation, they immediately told me how nervous they were about being photographed.”
“I reassured them that as they had invested in an engagement photoshoot, come their wedding day, they would feel a lot
more relaxed and actually enjoy getting their photographs taken.”
“We arranged their engagement session to take place on London’s South Bank, as this is where Leon proposed.”
“It was a great opportunity for the three of us to get to know each other better and also meant that on their special day, they knew what worked best in terms of posing, and how I worked too.”
“They had no reason to be nervous either as they’re both complete naturals in front of the camera!”
I now hand over to the couple…
Tell us a wee bit about yourselves…
“Hi, we are Andrea and Leon Edwards, I (Andrea) am a Project Engineering Manager in Essex, and Leon is an Accountant Manager originally from Romsey, Hampshire, recently moved to London to be with me.”
“We now live in East London and are enjoying being newlyweds.”
How did you meet as a Couple?
“We met online, Leon saw my profile and wrote me a memorable email.”
“After a few more emails back and forth we met up and just clicked.”
Tell us about the Engagement…
“We got engaged in October 2011 on the Southbank of the River Thames.”
“After a lovely meal Leon and I took a walk along the river, we stopped and then Leon pointed to a lit up building to get me to turn away from him.”
“When I turned back he was on one knee, it was quiet and a small group of tourists spotted us.”
“Once I said yes, they all clapped, it was very romantic.”
Why did you choose this location for your Engagement shoot?
“We wanted to return to the Southbank as because of the proposal it is a very special place for us.”
Thank you so much to Nicola for sharing this beautiful Southbank Engagement Shoot.
I love London and the sights, its such a vibrant city, with culture and bright lights.
This was such a special place for the couple and what a wonderful location to document their first steps on the path to marriage.
