A Seaside Engagement Shoot at Mablethorpe Beach

Today I am excited to share a gorgeous Seaside Engagement Shoot at Mablethorpe Beach featuring two lovely friends.

Heidi and Steve are getting married this August after 17 years together with a glorious British Seaside Wedding Theme.

Images of this very lovely and very family orientated shoot were captured by Harvey & Harvey Photography.

I hand over to gorgeous Bride to be Heidi…

How did you meet?…

“I’ve known Steve for most of my life.”

“We met in a local pub when I was 14 and he was 18

“He was in a band and I went to all their gigs. I dated his younger brother at 16, went off to Art College at 18 and on to Manchester for an Art Degree at University, and Steve meanwhile moved to London.”

“In 1996 we both moved home after rubbish times, and bad relationships.”

“Unbeknownst to both of us, all of our friends and our families insisted that we were ‘meant to be together’ and in 1997, we finally became a couple.”

Tell us about the Engagement…

“Last October after a particularly tough personal time we were casually chatting again about organising our wedding.”

“Steve turned to me and said ‘we’d better get it all booked then’ I looked at him in disbelief.. Are you serious??”

“He grinned, we hugged, I cried and then I grinned!”

“It was exactly what we needed to do. We decided there and then that there was no point in trying to save for the Big Day or putting it off any longer.”

“I did get my engagement ring eventually. Steve’s proposal didn’t quite go to plan.”

“My ring had to be re-sized and on Valentine’s day on one of our favourite beaches, Steve had to do without the ring. I got a haribo one instead..I couldn’t be happier!”

“Two weeks later on a Saturday evening in with the boys, Steve came into the lounge and dropped to his knees.”

“I started to help look under the sofa as I thought he’d dropped something, then suddenly realised he was holding a small ring-sized box….inside was a beautiful diamond ring.”

Tell us about your Wedding Plans….

“We’ve obviously talked about marriage and wedding plans for a looong time!”

“I am obsessed with the British seaside and never happier than when I’m at the coast.”

“Luckily Steve feels exactly the same way and we’ve always spent as much time as possible by the sea.”

“It just seemed natural to involve the seaside on our plans.”

“Sadly our budget wouldn’t stretch to the coast so we decided to bring the seaside inland!”

“Fish ‘n’ chips, vintage ice cream van, funfair style games, lots of seaside touches like buckets and spades, postcards and sandcastles.”

“We also both like the 50s in terms of style and music, a Golden age for British seaside so the Great British Seaside Wedding Fete was born!”

“Family is also very important to us too, so we’ve got everyone involved in the plans.”

“Mum is making my dress, Dad growing my flowers, siblings doing church readings, aunties making jam for the tea, we are making some decorative items…making it all the more special to us.”

“Then it’s time for a good old-fashioned knees up in the evening. Ties round the head, sliding on knees across the dancefloor!”

Tell us about your Engagement Shoot…

“Claire & Adrian at Harvey & Harvey asked if there was a special place we’d like to have our shoot.”

“To be honest, neither of us was keen on a shoot at all! ”

“We talked it through with Claire – basically we weren’t comfortable it being all about us, silly I know since it IS about us!”

“Once we’d had a chat, we thought it would be lovely to involve the boys (as they are going to be Steve’s Best Men)”

“It would take the focus off us a little and help us relax. I am so much happier behind the camera!!”

“When we discussed locations, parks etc just didn’t feel right.” Since we love the seaside so much, it seemed the obvious choice.”

“We ran it past Claire & Adrian and they thought it was a brilliant idea!”

“Mablethorpe is on the Lincolnshire coast and has a beautiful sandy beach…we had a fabulous time!”
