Today I am excited to share a gorgeous Greek inspired wedding shoot captured at the beautiful Ditton Manor.
Images were captured by Summers Photography, and feature an incredible collaborative team.
Summers Photography is a photographic company based in Berkshire and is owned by Stephanie Cronin.
The company is diverse in its set up. One half is weddings; where the other half is photographic training.
Stephanie says “Photography and the media is in the bloodline. Both my Grandfather and my Father worked in newspapers and I started my photography career work experience in The Glasgow Herald in 1999.”
“At the age of 14 I won my first photography competition, and by the time I was a teen I had polaroids, a Pentax electronic zoom and many a film SLR handed down.”
“Fast forward to 18 and I worked in photography developing stores, portrait studios and developed at working my own business from 2000 to date.”
I now hand over to the lovely Stephanie to tell you all about the shoot.…
“During the Summer of 2014, I organised a Greek inspired wedding shoot with the lovely Serena from Petals and Confetti.”
“We were looking for new, alternative and unusual wedding themes and decided on a Greek or Grecian look; which seems to be picking up as a trend for 2015.”
“With some incredibly talented wedding suppliers coming on board and producing their own, individual styles; the whole theme flowed seamlessly.”
I had been in talks with Julia at Ditton Manor about using the premises for a shoot for some time.
It wasn’t until we were actually setting up for the shoot that we started to notice how Greek the building was; with terracotta vase’s, Greek mythology artwork and a general mediterranean feel. It was the perfect backdrop for this shoot.
Serena from Petals and Confetti was the starting point and inspiration for this shoot.
Serena opted for more the natural tones and feel to the flowers with accents of gold, green and white throughout.
The styles and certainly the colours fitted perfectly together.
Grecian theme itself came from the dresses initially.
Debbie from Rosedene Bridal came on board with her less structured informal styles.
By going with the more floaty gowns, this gave us the opportunity to style a shoot, which was new and different.
The dresses had a lot of Grecian influence and after doing some research into what inspiration there was already available for the Grecian look, it was decided that this would be a great chance to show a look, which was not really been seen before.
The models were sourced from the actors and modelling agency Star Now.
The casting was made for the stunning Serena and Franzi.
Both ladies have been in modelling for some time, have a fantastic nature and were effortless to work with.
The Hair and Make Up:
The looks our hair and make up team produced was very much along the lines of a more informal look.
Stylist Kate created soft flowing braids and waves for both looks; producing a soft, dreamy and very romantic outcome for the bride.
To enhance the Mediterranean look of our two beautiful girls; our make up artist Aimee went for dramatic eyes and nude lips; with a hint of sparkly gold. Very complementary.
Jo from Grace and Bramble produced beautiful on the day stationery for our tables and set ups.
Following the theme of gold accents and swirly text, the pieces were perfect for Greek themes and many others.
The Sweetie Table
Jo from The Vintage Styling Company (formerly known as Tea and Doilies) produced some fantastic sweetie treats for us to photograph.
With a range of tall, short, jars and vases; we were treated to a beautiful range where again the colour palette was introduced from the other areas.
Jo from The Vintage Styling Company also went onto produce a Drinks Station; key trend for styling your events this year.
This was amazing as a compliment to other feaures of the shoot but would also work as a standalone piece.
The Cake and Sweet Goods
Karen from Cakes by Kit produced this classic 3 tiered wedding cake; complete with wedding favour cookies that matched the cake!
Sage green, whites and golds worked beautifully with the cake design; the attention to detail was simply phenomenal.
The table settings were incredibly original with gold ribbon and intricate paperie to add interest to the tables.
The design of the shoot had a wonderful contrast of organic simplicity and luxury opulence.
Perhaps Greek might not be your ideal wedding theme, but by using a simple colour palette of white and sage greens, there is simplicity to the scheme.
Highlights of gold in the table dressings, stationery and cake however add a fantastic richness and contrast to the softness of the other elements.
All the elements of the shoot showed aspects of the Grecian theme without it being too themed or stylised.
It is great to always follow a theme of some sorts, whether that could be a colour, style or pattern; this adds depth and accents the details throughout the day.
By incorporating those ideas and accentuating those elements, will form the personality of the couple and tell the story of their special day.
Thank you to Stephanie and the team for sharing this beautifully styled Greek inspired Wedding Shoot.
Ambience is created with a venue the embraces the theme and the use of greek style urns and white florals and lots of foliage is representative of lush olive groves.
The inclusion of gold as an accent colour could represent the opulence of the Greek Gods..
The styling, gowns, hair and make up, stationery, and cake further support an exquisite representation of the theme.
