A spectacular post wedding shoot in beautiful Skye

Today I am thrilled to share this spectacular post wedding shoot in beautiful Skye.

Nick and L.J embarked on a road trip from their Edinburgh base to breathe in the wonderful Scottish air and experience Skyes stunning landscapes and capture some memories to last them a lifetime.

Images were captured by Joshua Wyborn Photographic.

Joshua Wyborn is a Lake District & Cumbria based wedding photographer.

He covers the UK & destinations for weddings and elopements In a contemporary style.

His approach is more observational, creative, and documentary-style rather than the stiff formality of endless group shots.

His eyes are be peeled for those unexpected moments that can make a day creating shots that are unposed, candid, spontaneous.

They are moments captured rather than created and will tell the story of your big day in a naturalistic way.

Joshua says of the couple…

Nick & LJ are two good friends of mine from back in the university days, in fact, Nick studied photography with me.

Now, these guys have been inseparable for as long as I have known them, which is a good 7/8 years.

One day I was joking to Nick that he should just hurry up and propose… and a few months later he sent me a photo of a ring and said he was going to do it! WOOHOO!

After a few jokes and talking to each other about weddings and the planning involved, they decided to join an upcoming 3-week tour of the USA with their wedding ceremony.

With their parent’s blessings, they travelled away to the states and said their vows in Vegas!

It was at this point they asked if I could do some photographs after the wedding back in the UK for their announcement and just to get some nice portrait shots. It was at this point the idea of a Post Wedding Portrait Session was born.

I have always wanted to go back to Skye for a shoot after visiting a few years ago and it turns out that LJ’s family clan from back in the day is from there. So that was that, and the plan was made!

With only 2 days of rest from landing in the UK, I took them on a massive trip to Skye for an adventure of portraits.

The stats for this crazy adventure are 1,411 photos taken, 910 miles driven over 22 hours, 6 hours of sleep, 4 hours of shooting in the stunning landscape that is the Isle of Skye with 2 gorgeous friends in one beautiful country that is Scotland. All within 33 hours!

It honestly was priceless and I loved every second!

P.S. Yes, the last few are not from Skye but Glencoe as.. how could we not take that shot while driving past?!

The couple share a little of their story too…

How did you meet?

At a mutual friends birthday while we were both studying in Carlisle.

She was wearing a huge ginger fake moustache. Art students… what can I say!

Tell us about the Proposal…

We’d both been sent home from work during a snow storm. We decided to go for a walk in the snow towards Arthurs seat in Edinburgh. ]

While looking up at the Sailsbury Crags I got down on one knee and presented her with ring I’d picked up four days before and asked her to marry me.

Tell us about your wedding planning journey…

We had already planned a trip to America (Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Austin, New Orleans) and once I’d proposed we discussed the possibility of getting married in Las Vegas.

In order to save money it seemed like the logical thing to do.

We ran it past both sets of parents and when all of them actively encouraged us to do it we booked everything we needed to in a few days.

So we eloped to Las Vegas and it was the perfect choice for us.

After the ceremony we went for a beautiful meal at the Venetian which we followed with the Beatles Cirque de Soleil show, Love.

When we got back home we had a reception for family and friends which was of course Vegas themed with neon lights and poker chips!

What advice would you give to other couples getting married?

You don’t get a second chance at this (hopefully!), so do how you’d like to, don’t be afraid to run unusual ideas past family. They may just surprise you.

Also, make sure you hire a photographer who you trust to take incredible pictures of your day.

We hired Josh for a wedding shoot when we returned to Scotland to  and and couldn’t be happier with the results…
