Stuart Craig is a wedding photographer based in Edinburgh, Scotland and covers weddings and civil partnerships throughout the country and abroad.

He shares his  recollections of the Couples amazing shoot…

“I’ve been lucky to do a few Trash The Dress shoots abroad, and this time wanted to create something a bit more arty without taking up too much of the couples holiday time.”

“Pamela and James already had a full set of wedding pictures, so it made sense to try add something a bit different for their album.”

“Resisting the temptation to shoot everywhere, we decided to use our favourite spot in the Gothic Quarter and did the shoot in one take.”

“A late afternoon start took care of a few daylight shots, before we hid in a restaurant to escape all the attention.”

“Once darkness fell, we headed out back (with full stomachs!) and spent a couple of hours exploring the unique atmosphere of the area.”

“My hotel also happened to have a unique mirrored lift which proved irresistable for a selfie, so we turned up at Reception to ask for permission.”

“It was the last shot of the day and offered the perfect excuse to unwind in my room with a drink afterwards!”

“I think Trash The Dress offers the same natural high as a wedding.”

“Only without any stress, time constraints or location restrictions.”

“It always throws up interesting pictures, but more importantly it offers a great and memorable experience.”

“All you need is a wedding dress and kilt!”

I now pass over to gorgeous Bride, Pamela…

“James and I married at Dunfermline Abbey followed by a reception at Garvock House Hotel.”

“We met 14 years ago almost to the day we married.”

“The wedding day itself went by in such a whirlwind, it was amazing and we had such a wonderful time celebrating with all our family and friends.”

“We didn’t have a theme as such, as we chose to arrange an eclectic mix of everything we love and we are both quite crafty arty people so we did everything ourselves.”

“My dress was quite Art Deco and I just loved the style of it, it was an elegant dress with the right amount of detail for me and I knew James would love it too.”
“As soon as we both met Stuart we knew he was the right photographer for us. We got on very well and shared the same vision.”

“It was the quirkiness of the photographs we both fell for so trash the dress was totally sold to us from the moment we opened some of Stuart’s sample albums.”

“We chose Barcelona to do trash the dress as its such a diverse city with so much to offer.”

“We met Stuart over there and after a quick rendezvous we knew what was going to work and what wasn’t.”

“We planned our day and timings and met at our hotel to start the shoot and it was just an incredible experience filled with excitement, laughs and a fair bit of attention!

“Stuart said “If you bring your dress and James brings his kilt I’ll make magic happen with the camera” and boy didn’t he just!!”

“We left Barcelona with fond memories, memories that don’t sink in until you reflect on how amazing it all was, very much like our wedding day itself!”

Thank you so much to Stuart for allowing me to share his gorgeous imagery, and to Pamela and James for letting her share their amazing Barcelona Trash The Dress Shoot.

The urban parts of the city contrast beautifully against the more historical parts of the city giving two distinct but equally striking backdrops.

The shot of the Gaudi Cathedral is particularly breathtaking.
