Celebrating Milestones ~ An Urban Grungy Sydney Anniversary Shoot

Today I am thrilled to share this urban grungy Sydney Anniversary shoot captured in Newtown, that celebrates a milestone in our couples love story….

Cale and Bree have been on their adventure together for 15 years, and wanted to create some memories of that.

Images were captured by Gemma Clarke Photography.

Gemma says of the couple..

Cale and Bree have a strong marriage and two two gorgeous boys to show for it.

There is this amazing dedication they have for each other and also an incredible sense of humour! This photo shoot was done as a celebration of their 15 years together.

They are both really artistic humans with a fierce passion for music and family and that’s what bonds them the most.

They are pretty down to earth, love to laugh and try to see the humour in everything they can.

Cale is Canadian, owns a theatre company and is Media Studies lecturer and Bree is an Australian photographer and actor.

They originally met in a hostel in Paris called “The Peace and Love.” Bree was traveling with a friend and Cale happened to be staying in the same tiny room as them on a mattress on the floor. They fast became friends.

As it happened, Cale was on his way to Australia and it was there in Sydney that their romance really started.

They got engaged in 2008. It was a long engagement because no matter how much they tried they couldn’t figure out the logistics of where the wedding would be.

They finally decided on two weddings. One in Canada and one in Australia.

Their first wedding was in Australia with a beautiful commitment ceremony on a summer’s day at the Royal Botanic Gardens in Sydney surrounded by
their parents and their closest Sydney friends and family. They partied well into the night.

Their second wedding was just a couple of weeks after in Canada in the winter.

The legal ceremony was performed by Cale’s father in front of all of their closest Canadian family and friends and also some Australians by a roaring fire with the snow falling outside.

15 years on since their meeting they wanted to capture what makes them a formidable force, nurturing and supporting each other through every situation and remaining steadfast.

They chose the suburb of Newtown because it has very interesting graffiti walls and grungy streets.

They spend a lot of their time there as there are many funky bars, shops and theatres.

To close the couple have a few thoughts on what makes a relationship work, and its solid advice for all of us already married or ready to embark on our own journeys into married life…

Bree says, “Our commitment to each other is unwavering. We deal with our problems and when we fight, we make up straight away. We are kind to each other, very affectionate, we laugh a lot and we share a fierce passion for music.”

Cale says, “We communicate pretty clearly about things and support each other pretty hard core. We both have less than conventional occupations, and have had to do some hard yards to make it work, and still are, but we back each other up when we need help.”
