The idea for the Shoot came from the lovely Sue Page at Ice the Cake.
Ice the Cake is an enchanting online boutique sourcing ‘Every Ingredient for your Wedding’. With handmade products and cherry picked services from those who are dedicated to providing exceptional customer service, the online wedding consultancy has plenty to inspire, enabling you to create an unruffled wedding day that is personally bespoke to you.
Sue says, “I started the company just over a year ago as a place for people to thank suppliers who gave a service that was above and beyond their expectations, but that has quickly evolved into me creating a supplier network with over 250 members and growing.”
“So what better way to showcase such a talented group of individuals than with a massive photo shoot”
“On Thursday 24th May, I organised my first ever styled shoot.”
“Set on the outskirts of the pretty village of Cassington and in amongst the picturesque scenery of the Cotswolds, is a brand new Wedding Venue – Worton Park. This idyllic location that is so charming you feel at home before you even open the front door.”
“There were approximately 40 wedding suppliers involved as the venue has so many lovely locations I decided to organise 6 themed shoots to take place on the same day!”
“Upon my first visit to Worton Park I had been completely taken by their outdoor pool and as soon as the shoot was confirmed I knew the photographer to take on the challenge!”
“As you will have seen a couple of weeks ago Jay Mountford jumped in the pool and captured some incredible ‘Trash the Dress’ images. (In fact I actually ended up jumping in fully clothed as well at the end of the shoot – it was a really hot day!)”
“However, prior to this we had spent the day working on a different theme. One that given the weather we were extremely lucky to be capturing.”
“As the sun beat down from the cloudless sky, the bright and vivacious neon themed photo shoot got under way. The suppliers involved had provided some incredible products enabling us to create something really special.”
The photographer on the day was Jay Mountford. Not only is Jay an enormous amount of fun to be around and anyone who booked her on their wedding day would most likely be laughing from beginning to end, but as a professional she has an exceptional eye for detail and likes to push boundaries. I can remember the gorgeous beam on her face when she captured the image of the cake in the sunglasses – she really is such an inspiration. Jay is so dedicated and I absolutely love working with her. I can highly recommend her to be an incredible support whether you are booking her for your wedding day, a rock the rock or one of her more family / lifestyle related shoots.
The fabulous dresses were provided by Bicester Bridal which is located in Bicester, Oxfordshire. Maddy who runs the boutique knew I was looking to capture some bold styles and she picked some incredible designs to be included within the shoot. Bicester Bridal stock Prom dresses too so we really were spoilt for choice in the selection process.
To compliment the dresses make up artist Natasha from Make Up Artist Boutique created a look that was as awesome indoors as it was by the poolside – something not as easy it as it sounds when you take into account the different lighting and reflection from the water.
To finish the outfits I opted for beautiful brightly coloured tiaras and headdresses hand made by Liza from Princess Conchetta
I then incorporated some on trend feather Jewellery specifically designed for the shoot by Sarah from Energise Weddings. I particularly loved the bright green earrings!
The cake was designed by Helen from Sweetness & Delight Celebration Cakes… and what can I say! Not only was it an array of colours on the outside but it was equally colourful on the inside. However, more than that, it completely tantaslised your taste buds because as a surprise Helen decided to flavour the multicoloured cake with lemon and zesty lemon buttercream. With the colour and the surprise flavour it really was a winning combination and one that was actually being fought over later in the evening once all the shooting had finished and we were able to indulge properly.
The geometric stationery designed by Sam Osborne Illustrations was a perfect fit for the theme. I love how Sam understands my design requirements even though I have got to be one of the worse people to try to explain something. Her design skills are exceptional and she is always so patient when it comes to design ensuring that as a customer I receive exactly what I am looking for.
As a colourful addition to the décor the delicious Candy Trees and pom pom trees were supplied courtesy of Haley Jane Weddings & Events.
Rather than using traditional flowers given the colours we were looking to achieve I thought artificial flowers may give a good alternative option. I contacted Kris from Fusion Flowers in Birmingham and explained to him what I was looking to create. His designs far surpassed my vision and in fact our behind the scenes photographer on the day captured me literally jumping up and down with excitement when I saw them!
Thanks to Sue for sharing the shoot and to Jay for capturing such striking images.
Anyone that knows me knows I am a huge fan of colour and as a child of the 80’s this colour extravaganza is just virtual happy.
The shoot is a stunning piece of Bridal Inspiration for the adventurous Bride who wants to show her true colourful self on her special day.
