Coinciding with the cinema release, a Great Gatsby inspired bridal fashion show was held by the pair at London’s Waldorf Hotel recently.

The event was an opportunity for wedding industry folk to have an exclusive sneak peek of Sabina Motasem’s elegant dresses and Kelly Spence’s exquisitely designed hair accessories and veils.

The models were given a 20s look with a modern twist with hair styled beautifully by Johanna Irving of Lovehair and flawless make up by Ana Ospina.

The historic Waldorf Hotel, dating back to 1908, became famous in the 1920’s for its orchestra and ballroom – making it the perfect venue to host a Gatsby inspired evening.

Sabina Motasem, a womenswear label of luxuriously understated elegance, showed dresses which can be transformed to create different looks with French cord lace bodices, crystal beaded silk georgette over-dresses, art nouveau beaded belts and a choice of three colours (ivory, blush and cream).

New pieces included: Ava (a strapless dress with a soft draped skirt), Lina (a sleek strapless column dress), Elsa (bias cut satin dress with A-line skirt in champagne) and Lily (a Swarovski beaded silk georgette dress), as well as existing dresses: Josephine, Isadora, Mistinguett, Zen, Emillienne, Cleo & Bella.

Each dress celebrates the style and beauty of an iconic woman from the turn of the century to the 30’s.

The dresses were accessorised by Kelly Spence Bridal Accessory Design, whose latest collection includes a range of intricately hand-beaded, vintage-inspired hair pieces on removable ribbons which can be worn in the hair, around the wrist or as a belt with evocative names such as Sunset Cocktail, Meet Me By The Lilypond and Moonlight Tango.

Also 1920s inspired veils, including Juliet veils, lace caps and bandeau style silk veils embellished with blousy silk blooms as well as a range of back necklaces and delicate hair chains, this season’s must have accessory.

Guests were treated to goody bags filled with ivory feather boas, beautiful art deco inspired decorated cookies in gold & Tiffany blue from Anais’s Sweet Boutique and divine canapés.

The evening was photographed by Cristina Rossi, a highly respected wedding photographer and the venue was styled with beautiful Gatsby inspired flowers of pinks and creams from Wildabout Flowers.
