Today I am excited to share these incredible images shot on location in Ireland, and which I believe give some beautiful inspiration to the Alternative Bride.
A Bride is her own person, and that means she doesn’t have to be stuck in the box of tradition, and that is never more true than with the Wedding Gown she wears.
Whether you go white, coloured or in this case, black, your Wedding Gown reflects you as a person.
While this styled shoot was not overtly Bridal in nature, it has the styling to inspire those looking for a more unique or gothic look.
Images are by Sarah Ann Wright Photography.
Photographer Sarah says of the shoot..
“I shot the images at the Dark Hedges in Northern Ireland.”
“I’d seen so many pictures of these awesome trees in and always imagined something dark and foreboding to go with them.”
“The Dark Hedges are a romantic, atmospheric, tunnel-like avenue of intertwined beech trees, planted by the Stuart family in the eighteenth century.”
“It was intended as a compelling landscape feature to impress visitors as they approached the entrance to their Georgian mansion, Gracehill House.”
“Two centuries later, the trees remain a magnificent sight and have become one of the most photographed natural phenomena in Northern Ireland.”
“In fact, the iconic trees have been used as a filming location in HBO’s epic series Game of Thrones, representing the King’s Road, and frequently used when capturing Wedding images.”
“For the look of the shoot I was inspired by the play / film of the Woman in Black and the the character of Jennet who is both strong, terrifying yet very sensitive.”
“We didn’t have long to shoot as it was nearing sunset that evening, but we managed to capture some beautiful images before darkness took over.”
Thank you so much to Sarah and shoot team for allowing me to share their incredible collaborative work.
I love the bold jewels and headpiece against the darkness of the gown, it adds an air of luxury and strength, and the gown is just stunning and perfect for the Bride that likes to express herself…
