Images were captured by Joanne Withers Photography.
Joanne Withers is a Leicestershire based Wedding and Portrait Photographer.
Her love of photography did not start with a camera. It started as a teenager looking through the battered, old family suitcase and tins full of loose photographs.
This still inspires her as a photographer. Capturing and preserving those moments to look back on.
She says… “My love of photography is about capturing real life. Preserving those moments to look back on.”
“For me, it is about an investment in time to preserve all those little details, for those close to you, to be able to laugh at in the future.”
“Be it loose prints in a suitcase, an old wedding album showing the style of the time, or beautifully presented photobooks.”
“Capturing the whole day of a wedding is so important simply because, no matter what scale your wedding day is, the ceremony itself will always be such a big part of your life.”
“I speak from experience that you will look back at your photographs and having an album is one of the best things you can invest in.”
“Our wedding album is old, but I love it and I treasure the opportunity that I get to look at my parent’s wedding prints in a little white album.”
“Covering the day in my relaxed style means the informal shots show the real moments.”
“I first met Lynda at an early morning bootcamp as we were both trying hard to train and get fit.”
“From there, I have photographed her business, her daughters and their dog Aussie and her granddaughter as a newborn.”
“Hence I was thrilled when she asked me to be a part of her wedding, as we have known each other a long time.”
“It was clear how much Lynda and Wayne mean to all their friends and family because everyone had gone to so much effort and the happiness was everywhere.”
“There were surprises for them, such as the photobooth and the balloon cake and their faces when they saw these was priceless.”
“The two families are so close and this wedding was all about family.”
“The fact that they brought their dogs to the wedding, as that is how they met, was perfect.”
I hand over to beautiful Bride Lynda…
How did you meet?
“We met in a really lovely way. It was a time when we were both single lonely.”
“I was walking my dog Aussie, and Anthony my son’s dog, with a swollen ankle.”
“I took them to the park behind where we lived in Ravenstone, limping about but the dogs were having a great time anyway.”
“After a few minutes a black dog came running over and then along came his owner, Wayne.”
“We got talking and after 15 minutes or so we parted.”
The following day I had a knock on my door abd there stood Wayne asking if he could walk the dogs as I had a sprained ankle, and I said yes.”
“He was away ages so I was a bit worried…but he did come back and asked me out on a date as we got on so well.”
When did you get engaged?
“Our relationship blossomed and a year later in September 2013 we were in a hot air balloon over Derbyshire when he proposed to me… and I said yes.”
Tell us about your wedding planning journey
“Our wedding journey was fabulous and pretty straightforward despite initial venue issues.”
“I had originally wanted to marry at Staunton Harold but sadly they don’t do weddings in October.”
“I had a look for a local Venue and found Mythe barn and wow wow wow it’s a gorgeous place and so perfect in every way for what we wanted.”
When did you get married?
“We got married on October 23rd surrounded by family and friends, vene some family that came all the way from Australia to be with us.”
What was the best bit of your day?
“The best bit …. I can’t say really it was all amazing.”
But the Balloon cake, now that was a cake!”
“It was made by a wonderful person who I met when I was in the cast of the London Olympics.”
What advice would you give to other couples getting married?
“The advice someone gave me was on the hour every hour stand back and take a look and enjoy the day you have brought together, and who you are with.”
