Today I am thrilled to share this beautiful intimate Gold Coast Wedding at Bend of the River.
This pretty Big Day is especially exciting for me to share as this is venue of my own renewal of vows this coming July.
Overlooking a bend in the Tallebudgera River, Bend of the River is a unique “Queenslander” holiday house set amidst 15 acres of gorgeous organic fruit orchards, and the perfect place for a celebration of love.
Images were captured by Maleika Halpin Photography.

It’s not just a news-telling medium but a progressive platform; perfect for both commercial and personal photography projects.
Her vision is to create a photography business that works intimately and periodically alongside clients to better understand their stories, visions, and ideas.

Bringing stories to life, creating honest, colourful visual portfolios.
I hand over to beautiful Bride Jenny…
How did you meet?
“Warren and I met by pure chance, one Saturday night in Brisbane, at probably one of the worst bars that Brisbane CBD has to offer.”
“I was visiting from Melbourne on a frivolous girls weekend away whilst Warren was out celebrating a friend’s birthday.”
“Many factors fell in to place for us to meet on the dance floor and then to exchange numbers.”
“A month later, after keeping in contact, I flew back up to Queensland and we have been together ever since.”
Tell us about the engagement
“To be honest, there isn’t a whole lot to tell!”
“We started to plan the wedding before we even got formally engaged (which is in keeping with how we do things in a very non-traditional way.)”
“We both knew, very early on, that we wanted to get married, so it seemed only natural to begin planning the wedding as soon as it felt right.”
“The whole ‘getting engaged’ part only seemed like a required formality rather than a priority for us.”
“When Warren did finally ask, it was very spontaneous and at our home.”
Tell us about your wedding planning experience
“We planned our Queensland wedding from Melbourne, with only one trip to meet our celebrant and to see our venue.”
“Everything else was done via email and phone.”
“We couldn’t have done it without the wonderful wedding planning (and then on the day coordination services) of the amazing Rachael from Peachey Pie.”
“As a local in the industry, she would suggest vendors for us and then we could choose our preferred ones.”
“She would liaise and negotiate for us as well which made the whole process rather enjoyable.”
“Our main priority was making the day as relaxed as possible, with little fuss and effort required.”
“Rachael certainly delivered this, and as most of our guests had travelled for the occasion, it meant everyone could enjoy their holiday without the usual stress and work of putting of last minute running around.”
What was the best bit of your wedding day
“Seeing everyone we love and hold dear, from all different parts of the world and from various times and places in our own lives, together in the one place; all there to celebrate the love and life that Warren and I have and continue to create.”
“Sitting down at our one long lunch table and watching everyone fill their bellies with amazing local, fresh and seasonal produce (thank you 100 Mile Table for the catering.)”
“The speeches on the lawn area, with everyone sprawled on picnic blankets, chairs and benches. Laughter and tears ensued.”
“And finally, once everyone had gone, sitting and watching the sunset with my new husband and our baby girl on the verandah of the incredible Bend of the River.”
“The peace, the quiet and the joy was overwhelming. Staying at our venue before and after the wedding was the best decision we ever made.”
What advice would you give to other couples getting married
“It may seem like an impossible task but don’t stress the details.”
“Focus on what is really important to you and everything else will fall in to place.”
“Hire industry professionals; their advice and knowledge are invaluable.”
“And remember the end game; it is only one day in what you hope will be a lifetime together, so appreciate the wedding for what it means but remember there’s so many other amazing days to follow.”
I may be a little biased but isn’t it just lovely, a place of such character with the most beautiful of trees and greenery.
As they approach their 1st Anniversary its so special to be able to share Warren and Jennys Gold Coast Wedding.
I too look forward to taking a step closer to nature in such a peaceful and serene setting and breathe in the wonderful Queensland air as I say my vows again.
