A beautiful Perthshire Wedding with a relaxed country feel

Today I am thrilled to share this beautiful Perthshire Wedding with a relaxed country feel at Tummel Valley Holiday Park.

Images were captured by Rachel and Tonie.

Photographer and couple shared a very personal connection with Denise and Jamie being Tonies parents.

They spent a pretty magical weekend being a part of this wonderful celebration in the good old Scottish rain!

Rachel and Tonie are photographers based in Scotland who capture alternative natural weddings and elopements.

They work in Glasgow, Edinburgh, Perthshire, Scottish Isles, Highlands, Lake District and everywhere else in the UK, and they really love a good destination wedding!

I hand over to gorgeous Bride Denise…

How did you meet?

We met many years ago (35yrs) as teenagers in our local school.

Tell us about the Proposal…

Jamie proposed in the pub just after his dad passed away.

We were with our son Tonie and his girlfriend Rachel and my sister Yvonne and Brother in law Stevie.

He got down on one knee and said he couldn’t live without me, I make him a better person and would I marry him.

Tell us about your wedding planning journey…

We decided we wanted to get married somewhere that meant something to us as a family, somewhere we had great memories.

We eventually settled on Tummel Valley Holiday Park in Pitlochry.

The surrounding area we had holidayed for many years, camping and fishing on Loch Tummel and Loch Rannoch and occasionally in a caravan at the park.

We spent many holidays just the 3 of us and with other family members.

We visited the park and spoke to the park manager who absolutely agreed we could get married there and they would do as much as possible to make it special.

We booked 6 lodges for our weekend away wedding. The lodges were all located beside each other, looked onto a a grassy wooded area overlooking the River Tummel.

There was 25 close family and friends across 6 lodges there from Friday to Monday, of which 5 had travelled from Australia.

We relaxed on the Friday and the younger ones had a games of Nerf wars, so funny and so competitive.

On the wedding day, it rained alllllll day. Our photos are a sea of umbrellas but it was perfect.

We had a humanist Linda Stewart conducting our vows, she was amazing.

Tonie was his Dads bestman and my sister Yvonne was my best maid and niece Lyndsay was my bridesmaid.

We got married outside in the rain, with bunting and baubles, and people laughing around us.

It was very relaxed, and I walked down the aisle with my dad, my sister and my niece.

We all joined arms and danced to Let’s Get Married by The Proclaimers.

Any special touches/DIY?

Everything was DIY but we have to make special mention for the cake topper.

It was a random find on a beach in Carnoustie, which became an icon for a weekend we spent with Tonie and Rachel at their new house.

We laughed and joked with it all weekend and casually ( you keep it…no you keep it moments) but left it with them when we went home.

It certainly made its way back to us… karma is sweet. They painted and varnished it and surprised us with not only a wedding cake but a very personal cake topper.

What was the theme /colour palette of your Big Day?

There wasn’t really a theme other than a casual, country, bunting wedding.

What was the best bit of your day?

Our story..Our vows, the laughter.

Is there anything you would do differently?

No, absolutely nothing..it was perfect!

What advice would you give to other couples getting married?

Do it your way… don’t get caught up in the hype, stay true to you and only please your two selfs,

It’s your day, not anyone else’s.

Thanks so much to Rachel and Tonie for sharing this intimate, and laidback Perthshire wedding..

What a special feeling it must have been to share and be part of this amazing celebration.

A little bit of inclement Scottish weather wasn’t going to stop these two lovebirds and they did it their own way…
