A beautiful relaxed Manor House wedding with a 1970s heirloom gown

Today I am thrilled to share this beautiful relaxed Manor House wedding with a 1970s heirloom gown.

Sharon, a PR consultant and Chris,  risk analyst, were married in Heskin Hall in a wonderful celebration with family and friends.

Images were captured by Kathryn of Delicious Photography.

Kathryn of Delicious Photography is a Lancashire Photographer based in Accrington and covering North West England.

Her love for the lens started 12 years ago as she started a college course part time around her job in Finance.

She did a lot of travelling and volunteering overseas whilst doing her degree and set up a business to fund these trips.

As she began shooting weddings she realised how much she loved everything about them and Delicious Photography began.

She feels lucky enough to do the thing she loves the most for a job, and feels she has found her calling in life!

She likes to capture your day naturally and tell the story as it happens without lots of posing or staging.

Her style can be described as modern and fresh documentary wedding photography.

She likes to blend in with your guests to capture the natural spontaneous moments.

She says of the couple…

“I first met Sharon on a commercial job I was doing for a college.”

“She had come up from London with a film crew and we got chatting about her wedding when I mentioned I was a wedding photographer.”

“She was looking for a wedding photographer, and the rest is history!”

“Chris and Sharon wanted a relaxed day that reflected them as a couple and boy did it do that! ”

“Sharon wore her mums wedding dress that fit her perfectly without a single alteration and they chose the same church where Sharon’s mum and dad and grandparents were married.”

“Chris wore a beautiful tailor made suit and his groomsmen wore their own suits from their weddings keeping in with the relaxed theme.”

“The bridesmaids also wore their own dresses in shades of grey, blues and purples.”

“The whole day from start to finish was filled with personal, thoughtful details which had taken months of planning and made my job even lovelier.”

“If the bridal party weren’t lovely enough, the guests arrived at the church, and from all over the country friends were united; their delight at seeing each other made for heartfelt hugs, laughter and smiles which was how the day continued..”

“It was the first time we had worked at Heskin Hall which is also a beautiful antique showroom and doubles up as one of the most quaint, relaxed and perfect wedding venues we have been to with lovely staff and the perfect backdrop for a vintage/classic wedding reception.”

I hand over to beautiful Bride Sharon to share her story…

How did you meet?

“We met through a mutual friend in 2002 when we were both at university in Liverpool.”

“We left Liverpool in 2004 and moved in together in London.”

Tell us about the Engagement?

“We decided to get married in 2013 – it was more of a mutual decision than a formal proposal and seemed like a natural next step after so many years together.

“However, while on holiday in Turkey, Chris did pull out a plastic ring from Dorothy Perkins and officially asked me to marry him, after clearing it with my dad!”

Tell us about your wedding planning journey

“We wanted a laidback, hassle-free wedding.”

“We don’t like cheese and wouldn’t have felt comfortable with anything too fancy.”

“There were only really two stipulations: free flowing Cava when the guests arrived at the venue and good music.”

” I wore my  Mum’s 1970’s wedding dress with no alterations as I liked the vintage look and it was a really flattering fit. The fact my mum wore it 37 years before I did made it even more special.”

What was the best bit of your day?

“The speeches – they were really funny and had the room buzzing.”

What advice would you give to other couples getting married?

“Keep it as relaxed as possible – don’t plan anything that might stress you out on the day. ”
