Adam says of his work…

“I am a visual marketing photographer for a school photography company in Oxfordshire.”

“Alongside this I run my own business photographing weddings.”

“I love capturing those special moments, whether it’s a loving glance between the bride and groom or a pageboy sneakily eating some icing from the wedding cake!”

“All of these moments make a wedding unique and I’m there to capture this.”

“This is why I love photographing weddings, each one is different and you never really know what is going to happen!”

“My style of photography is very relaxed, I like to sit back and capture the day as it unfolds.”

“This allows me to create a collection of images which tell a beautiful love story.”

Greg shares his recollections of the couple and their day…

“I work with Greg for a school photography company.”

“As soon as I met Greg we immediately hit it off, one of the first times I met Greg he showed me how to drink and dance to cheesy music!”

“I met Kirstie at one of our work Christmas parties and thought she was lovely, very smiley!”

“I have always wanted to photograph a destination wedding, it’s something that has always been on my’ to do’ list, but seemed like more of a pipe dream.”

“When Greg and Kirstie asked me to photograph their wedding in Santorini I had to pinch myself to make sure I wasn’t dreaming!”

“After the initial shock of being asked to do something I had always thought would never happen, I found myself feeling extremely excited and honoured.”

“For about a month I went round telling everyone that I was photographing a wedding in Santorini!”

“When it came to travelling out to Santorini to meet Greg, Kirstie and their families I was feeling excited, but nervous.”

“This was different to any wedding I had photographed before. I was going to be spending a vast amount of time with Greg and Kristie’s family over the three days I was going to be there and I had never met any of them before!”

“I was joining Greg and Kirsties most loved family members and friends for an intimate wedding in one of the most romantic settings in Greece.”

“When I arrived in Greece, Greg and Kirstie took me to their venue.”

“All I remember is standing at the top of hundreds of steps looking over the sea. My jaw dropped as I looked out and thought to myself, this is amazing!”

“At this moment in time I could have given Greg and Kirstie a massive hug, but I refrained!!!”

“My nerves soon disappeared when I met Greg and Kirsties family by the poolside of a gorgeous hotel.”

“A beer was planted into my hand and from that moment I had some new friends.”

“In fact I had such a fantastic time with everyone I’m hoping I get invited to their next family holiday……or at least their next family barbecue!”

“The day itself was a day of love, laughter and enchantment.”

“There were so many special moments which made their wedding so beautiful in so many different ways.”

“From the flight of doves to the romance of a dance to a saxophone, the back drop of the sea to the exotic pink flowers against the pure white walls.”

“I could see that Greg and Kirstie were embracing everyone single minute of their wedding day and I am so happy that was able to capture all of those special moments for Greg and Kirstie so they can look back and reminisce for years to come.”

I hand over to gorgeous Bride, Kirstie…

How did you meet?

“Greg and myself met at school around the age of 12.”

“We were in different school years but had good mutual friends and seemed to spend lots of time together outside of school particularly school holidays but always in group situations.”

“When we were this age the ‘in’ thing was skate boarding and skating.”

“I would spend many hours watching Greg and his friends performing tricks but really seeing Greg as a friend never someone who I would eventually end up marrying.”

“I think Greg was more worried about his beloved skates and skateboard. and I was more worried how I looked and whether I had the latest cool fashions for a 12 year old girl!”

“We then both left school at the relevant age and went off to different colleges and really didn’t see each other at all., but ironically studying similar courses.”

“It was at the age of 18-19 when we both at the legal age to go to nightclubs we bumped into each other and it went from there really after many dates and lots of time together our love blossomed!”

“Things went from there and we bought our first home together in July 2012. July seems to be a month of first for us!”

When did you get engaged?

“Greg proposed on July 18th 2013 in Tunisia, what I thought was just an annual holiday ended in him proposing on the beach.”

“It was a beautiful proposal and very private just how I dreamt it to be!”

“So not only did we marry in another country we also got engaged in a different country! Maybe its turning into our tradition?!”

“The date we got engaged was exactly 2 years to the date we married and roughly the same time also!”

Tell us about your wedding planning journey

“We decided we both wanted to marry abroad, we knew that from the outset!”

“We both have small families and close friends, so felt it would be the ideal thing having us all together to celebrate- a big family wedding and holiday= bonus!”

“Also we both love warm weather! We wanted some where we could return to with ease and regard as ‘our special place’.”

“We were keen on having the most amazing wedding photography and setting possible for this to happen.”

“Greg working for a photography based company and us attending lots of weddings around that time made us aware that the photography side of the weddings is in Greg’s words ‘ Photographs are your memories that you keep alongside with the rings and the change of name’ everything else is planted firmly in your mind but the photos particularly you have to treasure and look back on.”

“Greg works alongside a lovely man called Adam Watts, and I think after Greg and Adam talked to each other the penny dropped in both cases.. why not fly Adam out to photograph our dream day?”

“For us it was a no brainer.. Adam was the perfect option not only did we know Adam well and have spent time talking and discussing weddings we knew his work and had seen his work regularly so why would we even consider some one or any one else?”

“Adam also seemed happy to do this as it was a first for him also photographing a wedding in Santorini.”

“Prior to the wedding we met with Adam to discuss location, the shots were keen on getting and all finer details of who was who in our wedding party. ”

“Adam has some great forms you fill out and then discuss over so he knows exactly the plans. Its was also a time for Adam to meet us both in a relaxed environment and for us to ask any questions we had.”

“For us it was easy as although Adam is busy term time but still free at weekends us getting g married at the end of July almost meant Adam could come when suited us as his week day job is mainly term time!”

“We all flew out on Tuesday 14th July and Adam came out the day before the wedding (17th).”

“We felt this was a good option as Adam could come see the venue in person, meet with who he needed and sort out where was best for shots etc.”

“I think having Adam also as a friend also meant that the blend of him into our family (although he had never met any of them previously) was so easy! ”

“Adam is a family guy he has a lovely family and I think it also gave him time to work out the dynamics of our families/friends to ensure he got the best shots!”

“It was also perfect as the day he arrived that evening we had a group meal and of course was so convenient we had Adam as he didn’t miss any opportunity on taking some natural family shots.”

“It was also good for our family to feel comfortable which they did very quickly with him, to the extent he is now welcome to any family parties/gatherings!”

Making our decision…

“Greg was keen on marrying on a beach, more so than myself – all I could think of was how dirty my dress would become!”

“All girls dream of a romantic setting fr their Wedding, and in looking for locations,  well Santorini couldn’t of been more romantic!”

“The island is breath taking and still leaves tears in our eyes now when we think about it and how lucky we were to be allowed to marry there.”

“I loved the story of Mamma Mia from a young age and played the film to Greg and after this the rest fell into place!”

“We then decided if we married abroad we would have to give a years notice to all our guests so they could plan also!”

“Also we then felt we wanted some time on top of this to enjoy being engaged and make decisions and not rush them just enjoy making them.”

“Greg suggested we marry 2 years to the day of our engagement and it just seemed perfect!””

We then looked into Greece and the islands.. not only just 1000s of pictures of Brides and Grooms and ideas but also the logistics of having a wedding abroad with nearly 30 guests in tow!”

“Santorini seemed top of the list not just to marry but to visit! It has a massive reputation of being one of the most magical places on the planet, many tourists travel far and wide to visit ( as we learnt) and also to marry!”

“We did our research into lots of depth and spent many late nights researching everything anything we could about the island! Not just weddings but also travel to the island and accommodation!”

“We was very lucky that also some of our guests particularly my Aunty and Uncle had visited Santorini before.”

“They raved about the place and its beauty and we trusted their words! They have travelled to many Greek islands  and  around the world but Santorini to them was very special!”

“We also knew we needed a link to the island- someone who was on the island that could arrange things I could not really do myself from this end in the UK!”

“This was when we came across a wedding planner called Michael from Weddings in Santorini and from there on we knew it was  right.”

“Not only had we got a personal recommendation about Michael we read great reviews and speaking with him put us 100% at ease.”

Which once deciding on wedding date, time and venue with Michael we had a few months to do all the parts back here e:g wedding dress shopping, suit shopping, decoration ideas! Our favourite details!”

“I mean it’s a brides dream picking their dress and trawling every bridal shop and site going.. well mine was and I can say I certainly visited my fair share far and wide.”

“Greg also being Scottish it was important he represented his heritage and he was so keen to where the kilt.”

“Our colour scheme came from a favourite colour and once we spotted the tartan we both loved, it was just perfect!”

“The tartan was Help for Heroes with donations made from every sale of Kilt given which we feel was such a great cause!”

“It was then January 2015 we had to finalise details eg menu selections, flowers, entertainment etc it began then to hit in we was to marry in 7 months time- this year!”

“Of course like life there are bumps along the road and yes some moments we did sit their and doubt how it was all going to pull together and did it sound too good to be true?”

“Planning a wedding 1000s of miles away and everything seemed too easy! But we keep ploughing on and we just ran through things over and over again to ensure everything was in place!”

“And yes like anything you work hard at it you earn the rewards!”

“Even the night before leaving at 3am I was poorly with tonsillitis but we were still up counting favours and packing and repacking everything at 1am even though things had been sorted weeks in advance!”

“I guess we would be considered the bride and groom zillas that evening!!! I think we were allowed this moment of madness although!”

When did you get married?

“We were married on  Saturday 18th July 2015 at 6pm at Dana Villas, Firostefani, Santorini, Greece.”

What was the best bit of your day?

Kirstie’s most memorable/ favourite part of the day:

“The best part of the day for me would be exiting my wedding car.”

“The walk was a descent down many steps but the views of what I saw – the reason why we picked this venue!”

“Entering the ceremony, not only was I meeting my husband to be to marry him but I had all our loved ones there to share this moment with us.”

“I will never forget the moment I saw all out guests and then Greg and the look in his eyes!”

Greg’s most memorable/ favourite part of the day:

“My favourite part of our day was when Adam the photographer whispered to me that I could turn round as Kirstie was just walking down the isle and that’s when I got to see how beautiful my wife to be was….”

“So really in all our best/favourite moment was similar but from different angles!”

“What was great was that Adam captured this image in one of our most favourite images! In this picture you can see these feelings from both angles!”

What advice would you give to other couples getting married?

“Enjoy planning it and take your time! Everything you choose should be for you and what’s right for you as a couple. And follow/stick to your gut instinct it’s normally right!”

“Ps. Have good photography! We would recommend Adam as your photographer obviously! As we feel its so important to capture everything from your engagement through to your big day! (And you never know family portraits in years to come!! )”

Thank you so much to the couple for sharing their story, and Adam for sharing this exquisite Santorini wedding.

The  blue colour palette is so pretty, and  perfectly compliments the glittering sea, and gorgeous landscapes, and is perfectly in the flow and details of the day.
