Today I am delighted to share this beautiful Shropshire Wedding with a relaxed afternoon tea reception at the Mytton and Mermaid Hotel.
Images of the day were captured by Cris Lowis Photography.
Cris Lowis is a full time wedding photographer from Staffordshire.
His main focus of the day is to capture real and natural moments that really tell the story of the wedding without too many forced or contrived shots.
When a bride and groom look back at their wedding album he wants them to reflect on the day how it really was, as opposed to a photoshoot.
Cris shares his recollections of the couple and their day…
“Jess and Olly booked me as their wedding photographer at least 2 years ahead of the date, I’ve known them for many years so was really looking forward to capturing their big day.”
“The ceremony itself was to be held at a beautiful church local to Jess’ parents, the same church her grand parents got married in, whilst the reception was at the Mytton and Mermaid near Shrewsbury.”
“The venue is a beautiful grade 2 listed building sitting on the banks of the river Severn.”
“The Mytton and Mermaid is a real country pub serving fantastic food ideal for relaxed weddings like Jess and Ollies.”
“There is a dedicated room for the reception and wedding breakfast, outdoor reception area which is covered in case of rain and the grounds boast a great variety of options to have your wedding photos taken.”
“When I arrived at Jess’ parents house for bridal prep the excitement was already running high, assisted by her mum, sister and two bridesmaids..and a little bucks fizz!”
“At the church the vicar was a lovely gentleman who let me stand right at the front to capture all the emotion of the wedding ceremony.”
“Jess’s dad looked proud as punch as he walked her down the aisle.”
“The ceremony was conducted beautifully and I could feel the emotion in the church as family and friends watched on.”
“After the ceremony we headed over the the Mytton and Mermaid.”
“We had some rain but fortunately enough it cleared up enough for us to get some great photos around the grounds before the guests made their way in for a wonderful afternoon tea whilst listening to Replay Acoustic duo.”
“This was a fantastic, relaxed wedding perfect for my approach to wedding photography and I’m really pleased Jess and Olly chose me to be their wedding photographer.”
I hand over to beautiful Bride Jess…
How did you meet?
“We met at sixth form almost 7 years ago at the age of 16/17.”
When did you get engaged?
“It was quite a surprise really! I (Jessica) planned a surprise party for ollys 21st which he knew nothing about. He thought we were going for a meal so planned to propose there.”
“To his shock there was no meal so he ended up proposing at his party infront of around 100 people.”
Tell us about your wedding planning journey
“We like to be organised so began planning fairly soon on. We were engaged for just over 2 years so had plenty of time to prepare.”
“Everything was planned and booked fairly early on so it was just waiting for the big day to arrive really.”
“Once we were in 2015 the wedding came round surprisingly quickly.”
When did you get married?
” We were married on Saturday 1st August 2015 at Little Wenlock village church, followed by the reception at the Mytton and Mermaid Hotel in Atcham.”
What was the best bit of your day?
“The whole day was amazing. There was no specific ‘best bit’ as we loved it all.”
“It was just lovely to share such a special day with all our family and friends. It was surprising at how quickly the day actually went so its lovely to have all of our amazing photographs to look back at.”
What advice would you give to other couples getting married?
“Plan ahead and try to be as organised as you can.”
“We knew that if we left certain things too late before booking we would be disappointed as people/places get booked up so quickly.” Also do not scrimp the budget on a photographer!”
“We had an amazing photographer who captured every moment of our wedding day so we often look back through our album and are able to relive the day.”
Thank you so much to Cris for sharing this pretty Shropshire Wedding.
Love the natural tones in the styling and he mismatched china shows that everything doesn’t always need to be the same to look fabulous.
Also love the simplicity of the floral arrangements ~ gypsophillia is such a pretty flower that makes a big impact.
Such a glorious venue and the perfect location for a relaxed celebration of love…
