A beautiful Somerset Wedding at Babington House with a botanical feel

Today I am thrilled to share this beautiful Somerset Wedding at Babington House with a botanical feel and hints of pale pink and shades of blue.

Images were captured by Miki Studios.

MIKI Studios are Mick and Ash, a multiple award-winning, creative photography and videography team.

Taking a boutique approach to weddings in London and beyond, they travel extensively throughout the U.K. and internationally to capture photos and films that sweep couples off their feet.

When you commission them to work as a team, Ash is your wedding photographer and Mick shoots and designs your wedding film.

Working seamlessly together they support each other’s art to deliver lush and compelling documentaries capturing each important moment and never getting in each other’s way.

Gorgeous Bride Leanne says of the couples wonderful Somerset wedding day…

How did you meet?

We had known each other for 4 years previous to getting together, as we both worked in property we often had to deal with one another and therefore became friends before actually getting together.

Friendship turned to love, and 18 months later we got engaged.

Tell us about the Engagement…

Charlie proposed in the evening of our first day in our first apartment together in Kings Cross.

I had been asking ‘when’ for a long time and Charlie had to do it in the most unassuming time ever as I had already spoilt one attempted proposal during a stay at The Ham Yard Hotel earlier that month. ·

Did you have any particular any wedding style/theme?

The theme to the whole day was for it to be relaxed, fun yet as personal as possible.

We didn’t want to bound by rules/traditions, and there were no real set colour schemes, just eclectic yet contemporary and meticulous attention to detail.

Tell us about your wedding panning experience…

For our Somerset wedding venue we wanted something relaxed, cool and different,

We were also keen for everyone to stay together so this was the perfect venue.

We actually only looked at this venue and fell in love with it as soon as we saw it.

For a family touch to the day my sister sang me down the aisle singing Kissing you by Des’ree, and my other sister Gemma and groomsman Richard were our celebrants.

We wrote our own ceremony as we wanted it to be personal and relaxed.

We had legally got married in a registry office in London a few weeks before the day (with only witnesses coming to this wedding).

For writing our vows we took inspiration from other weddings they visited and endless hours of researching online.

An extract…. “Leanne & Charlie have chosen today to commission a piece of Art as a symbolic gift to one another to celebrate their love for each other. This piece is by the famous artist Ben Eine, who was asked to make this especially for today. Art means a lot to both of them and Charlie got his love of art from his sister Louise, and throughout their time together Charlie& Leanne have spent time learning, enjoying and creating art together.”

For readings we had the lyrics of Lucky Star by Madonna  and we also had: Pablo Neruda – Sonnet Xvii which one of our groomsmen chose this as he felt is summarised our love for each other.

For the look of the reception we didn’t want masses of flowers but wanted to go for a more relaxed foliage look.

We had  a bespoke screen for the ceremony which included phoenix palms, leatherleaf, asparagus fern and fan shaped palm leaves, which was then placed behind us during the wedding breakfast.

We also used the names and logos of our favourite restaurants for each table.

We didn’t do favours as we donated money instead to the asthma society in memory of Charlies sister Louise.

Everyone was provided with an Asthma Society badge on their name places.

Instead of a cake we had espresso martini’s for everyone after dinner and a room full of cheese later on.

What advice would you give to other couples getting married?

A few things I think would be useful for all brides to remember…

Make sure you plan to spend some time together. Charlie and I asked for 10 mins together straight after the ceremony where we were left alone to drink a glass of champagne, this was so special and I needed that time with him to take in what just happened?!

Hold hands, its common to get split up trying to talk to as many people as possible, but remember your guests are here to see you both

In and amongst all of the stress in the weeks leading up to the day, try to remember people want to see you succeed. You will obsess over every small detail but on the day nobody really cares (or notices) so long as you are happy and having fun, everyone will be.

Lastly you set the tone for your guests so enjoy every god damn minute of it!

Thanks so much to the team for sharing this glorious Somerset Wedding, such pretty details and wonderful air of celebration.

Photography & Videography – Miki Studios (We met Mick and Ash at our of our friends weddings the year before and totally fell in love with their work. It was so different, quirky and captured the essence of the day.

We were pretty set of what we wanted for our big day and knew they could deliver. We genuinely don’t think the day would be the same without them, they felt like friends and we will treasure those pictures for life.

The video is incredible, the attention to detail on the editing and the content is super professional.

Venue – Babington House

Wedding Dress – Halfpenny London

(This was actually my second dress. I had my first custom made by a very talented designer in Doncaster (closer to my home).

However very close to the day I realised the dress wasn’t right and one of my bridesmaids put her in touch with Kate in the off chance she could make something in time (10 day out from the wedding).

I went to meet the team at Halfpenny and they were incredibly professional and helpful and made the dress in under a week.)
