Today I am thrilled to share this bright colourful Nottinghamshire Wedding at Kelham House with Australian elements.
Images were captured by Mirror Imaging.
Mirror Imaging Photography is run by Sarah Illingworth, a fine art photographer.
Mirror Imaging is based centrally to Nottingham, Derby, Mansfield and Newark, and cover all areas of Nottinghamshire, across the UK and abroad.
Working in an elegant and editorial style, she says of her work…
“One of the reasons I first picked up a camera was to help positively change the way people (and particularly women) saw themselves and it still holds true today, and for every wedding and portrait I capture.”
“It is a combination of clean, beautiful photography and this level of empathy and understanding that is most often cited by clients as the reason they choose Mirror Imaging.”
“I strive to capture the best of everyone and everything, developing a simply beautiful style that won’t date or go out of fashion.”
I hand over to Sarah to share her recollections of the couples day…
Natalie and Luke were married on 17th March, having travelled all the way over from Australia to spend their day with family, friends and loved ones at Kelham House.
I think this particular day will go down in history, not only amongst their family as a day of celebration, but also for having the most varied weather conditions, as The Beast From The East struck the UK for the second time!
We had bright sun, then snow, sun again, high winds (forecast up to 70mph that day), glacial temperatures, some more sun, twice a snow blizzard, before the evening arrived and everywhere froze.
It was truly bizarre and a challenge as the light was changing constantly and it was too cold for outdoor photography.
Natalie and Luke braved it for a couple of minutes though resulting in my favourite photograph of the day!
We left everyone in the evening, partying the night away in the warm.
I now hand over to the Brides mum Karren to share the couples story…
Tell us how they met…
Nat and Luke met while they were studying at Nottingham Trent Uni.
They didn’t become romantically involved until after they had finished their degrees and Nat was studying for her PHD.
Tell us about the Proposal…
For the proposal Luke enlisted the help of some students who held up cards that spelt out ‘Will you marry me’ under Nats office window on the 27th October 2014.
Just under a year after in September 2015 they then went to live and work in Australia.
However they knew they wanted to get married back in the UK with all their friends and family celebrating with them.
Planning a wedding with the bride and groom thousands of miles away has its logistical issues and Nat and I exchanged many e-mails , WhatsApp messages and Skyped.
I felt very privileged being so involved with the wedding planning but always remembered it was their day and checked things with them first.
Nat was bridesmaid to her best friend in May 2017 and had another trip home in Nov 2017 so we were able to get her dress sorted and various other wedding bits sorted in those times.
She also made all the Aussie themed bunting that decorated the venue and painted all the table name cards which were named after Australian animals.
She wanted a bright and colourful wedding so the main colour was yellow with the bridesmaids were in cornflower blue and splashes of bright pink in the flowers. Australian animals, particularly koalas were also part of the wedding theme.
Best Bits of the Day…
Nat says the best bits of the day were the Wedding morning, walking down the aisle with her dad to a song from the Muppets Christmas carol film ( called the love we found) which is special to them and exchanging their vows.
Would you have done anything differently?
Nat said she wouldn’t have done anything differently as the day was everything she wanted.
She does wish however that she had had more chance to tuck into the evening buffet!
Advice for other couples?
Nat says cheekily get your mum to organise it!!!
And not to try to please everyone remember it is yours and your fiances day.
