Images were captured by Lewis Fackrell Photography.
Lewis Fackrell is a UK & Destination Wedding Photographer based in Cardiff, South Wales.
Photography has been a big part of his life for as long as he can remember.
He loves the affection, emotional connection, endless happiness and the love radiating from an image placed in a lasting album, and there’s nothing more he enjoys photographing…
His style is creative, naturural and photojournalistic.
He shares his recollections of the couple and their day…
“Buckland Hall in Brecon was the ideal venue for a fairytale wedding such as Hannah & Gareth’s big day.”
Set in the breathtaking Brecon Beacons National Park the venue is nestled away in the valley overlooking a vast area of countryside, icy cold fresh water river and of course the beacons in the distance.”
“Their wedding morning was cold, with a short crisp crunch underfoot, but without a cloud in the sky, the weather couldn’t have been any better.”
“I first met Hannah in the bridal suite surrounded by her bridesmaids, mum and the hair and make-up team.”
“Cool and collected, Hannah was excited for the day ahead with the schedule running ahead of time.”
“Gareth was still recovering from the night before when I met him. A final celebration before the exchange of vows with his best men.”
“Given the location of the venue, and with extra time on my hands, I decided to explore the venue a little more.”
“Having only visited in the afternoon previously, Buckland Hall is shown in a completely different light.”
“With the beacons in the distance warmly glowing from the early sun, highlighting the beauty of the surroundings.”
“Following their beautiful ceremony and with the day well underway, guests joined the newly married couple under the archway to be delivered by tossings of dry flowered confetti above… and the obligatory handful of in the face.”
“With the warmth of the two open fires burning away, prising guests away for a group photo in the cold was of course, going to present a challenge but we did.”
“All complete the bride, groom and I headed out onto the lawn to capture their portrait session with the backdrop of the stunning Autumn / Winter colors with the remaining leaves glowing in a low winter light.”
“Following a very moving reception by the speakers of the wedding party, we headed out to ‘play’ with the sparklers that Hannah had been thoroughly looking forward to.”
“What an amazing experience, when a cluster of sparklers suddenly lit surrounding the bridal party perfectly!”
“Soon enough it was time for the most amazing ending to the night at any wedding I’ve photographed, fireworks!”
“From the moment I knew, almost 2 years ago I was thoroughly looking forward to this moment. For those who don’t know, I love fireworks, stars and the sky.”
“To combine a cosmos theme wedding with fireworks and the countryside , of course, I was in my element! Their wedding was a beautiful jam packed day and I would jump at the chance do it all again!”
I hand over to gorgeous Bride Hannah…
How did you meet?
“We met in the University of South Wales in 2012 where we both worked as part of the same research group.”
“We quickly became friends and a year later we were in love.”
Tell us about the Engagement?
“Gareth booked a surprise night away for us on 22nd December 2014.”
“We returned to the first hotel we had stayed in together, Kings Arms Didmarton.”
“He had called ahead and ordered my favourite wine and proposed before dinner in our room for the night. It was so special to go back to a place we loved.”
Tell us about your Wedding Panning journey…
“We had a very strong idea of what we wanted – a wedding weekend – where we could spend time with everyone we loved and really celebrate, and a venue that let us embrace our love of the night sky, stars and space.”
“We booked Buckland Hall with 21 months until the wedding, booked Lewis Fackrell photography shortly after, and were very organised booking all our vendors – all local businesses – and then enjoyed being engaged.”
“Then it seemed as though the wedding came from nowhere and we became really busy.”
“My sister, Dad and our friends became invaluable and helped with the favours, confetti cones, atoms for tables and the printing and stationery designing. We couldn’t have done it without them!”
“We really loved every minute of planning and luckily got to enjoy making everything perfect.”
What was the best bit of your day?
“Apart from the Wedding ceremony of course, Gareths best bit was the Fireworks display provided by Ignition Fireworks – very apt for Bonfire Night.”
“For Hannah, the best bit was sitting down for our Wedding Breakfast surrounded by all the people we love.”
What advice would you give to other couples getting married?
“Do exactly what you want, make sure you make it your wedding.”
“Make sure somewhere there are 10 minutes put aside for you and your partner to enjoy a glass of champagne and take it all in – just you. It goes so fast, so enjoy it all.”
