Jamie says of the day…
“The Bride, Tiffany contacted me to say that she was from California, and she and her Groom Ray had decided to elope to Gretna Green with the nuptials taking place on Valentine’s Day.”
“With an elopement Tiff and Ray wanted to make sure they had the images to remember the day by and have the day documented so they could share the day with their friends and family.”
“The wedding would take place at The Water Gardens at Greens on the edge of Gretna Green.”
“I’ve shot in Gretna many times before but this would be the first time I’d shot there.”
“In the run up to the big day I’d been in contact with Tiff a lot but our first meeting was on the afternoon of the wedding when I knocked on the door and walked into the suite to be greeted by Tiff and Ray.”
“Here was a young couple who were relaxing a couple of hours before their ceremony.”
“The music was playing on the laptop with a phenomenal playlist! Tiff was sat on the sofa next to the windows putting eye make up on.”
“Ray was collecting things together ahead of the ceremony.”
“From the room on the 3rd floor you could see the Water Gardens and the wooden gazebo under which the ceremony took place, next to a large pond.”
“Ray was out there hanging ruffled paper pompoms to add to the fairy lights that were strung up under the roof.”
“It was a little breezy so the pompoms rustled as they moved about.”
“And despite it being a little chilly it was sunny…for now!”
“On the drive over from Newcastle I’d driven through several snow showers but already you had the feeling that this was going to be a very special day.”
“My other half, Jo, had travelled over to Gretna with me to share the day.”
“Whilst she sat in the bar area sipping on a cup of tea I headed back upstairs to get shots of Tiff’s dress.”
“Although they were getting ready together, the dress was to be a complete secret for Ray up to the very last minute.”
“Once he’d pulled his suit on, Tiff helped him fit his button hole in place before he headed downstairs to wait for her.”
“By now Tiff was in her dress. and had fastened up part of the back of her dress up, which showed off the most amazing tattoo on her back and shoulder.”
“I love tattoos so naturally wanted to get details of it for the images.”
“She also had the most fabulous furry bear shoes with golden bears on the heels. Just amazing!”
“I headed down to the gazebo. There Ray was waiting with the registrar.”
“He shuffled from foot to foot rubbing his hands as he chatted. Jo was there watching on alongside the two witnesses; a couple who had got married there the day before.”
“The clouds were gathering and the wind had picked up as Tiff made her way through the Gardens escorted by the wedding coordinator.”
“A short ceremony was followed by the ceremonial tying of the knot, sharing some whisky from a silver cup and then placing hands on the anvil.”
“It was lovely watching these two share this moment. We were all a little excited. So excited that the registrar nearly forgot to do one of the most important things; signing the register.”
“And as the vows were finishing, the snow began. It was like a movie.
“The temperature also dropped considerably so once everything was finished, we all headed inside. We made our way to the restaurant area.”
“All around were empty picture frames hanging from the ceiling. They were perfect for photos.
“In a small area of the restaurant a table had been set aside with a dainty little cake for the newlyweds.”
“People wished Tiff and Ray well as they walked past.”
“We weren’t inside long before the sun came out so we headed back outside to the Gardens.”
I told them to head through the Garden for a walk and spend some time together. By now any nerves had fizzled away. They chatted to each other.”
“Every so often Ray took a step back to look Tiff up and down. He pretty much had the look of “WOW!” constantly.”
“The two of them looked so in love and so happy. It didn’t matter how cold it was these two were just totally lost in each other I don’t think they noticed the temperature.”
“Back in the hotel they unraveled a “We Eloped” banner. Passing guests were saying things like “aaw” when they saw.”
“We giggled, we laughed, we had a blast. It’s what I love about weddings.”
“Afterwards in the car on the way back Jo mentioned that before we started doing the pictures Tiff mentioned that she was really nervous about having her picture taken. Well, Tiff and Ray were complete naturals.”
“I loved shooting Tiffany and Ray’s magical day. Without a doubt the most intimate wedding I’ve ever captured.”
