A Medieval inspired wedding with a pretty purple palette & owl ringbearer at Woodchester Mansion

Today I am thrilled to share this medieval inspired wedding with a pretty purple palette & owl ringbearer at Woodchester Mansion.

Images were captured by Camilla Reynolds Photography.

Camilla Reynolds is based in Stroud, Gloucestershire and photographs weddings in the Cotswolds and beyond.

She has been a professional photographer for about five years and specialises in wedding and family photography.

She also has a degree in fashion design giving her an acute attention to detail.

She loves capturing genuine emotions in unobtrusive relaxed way.

She says of the couple and their day…

“I was recommended to Cathie and Gary by another client.”

“I was really excited about photographing their wedding with a Mediaeval theme.”

“Woodchester mansion, a local unfinished Gothic mansion, was a great choice for this unusual wedding. ”

“I love how every couple makes their wedding unique and adds personal touches, but Cathie and Gary were planning something extra special that you don’t see at an average wedding – involving birds of prey in the ceremony with Cathie being “ given away” by an owl and a kestrel delivering their wedding rings.”

“I met Cathie and Gary for an engagement session at Woodchester mansion prior to their day and we discussed their wedding in detail, so there were no big surprises on their wedding day.”

“On the day everything went smoothly and to plan and we even had some gorgeous sunny weather – always a bonus with a British wedding!”

“I loved how relaxed Cathie and Gary were, and they were a pleasure to work with.”

I hand over to gorgeous Bride Cathie…

How did you meet?

“We met at work, both in relationships that did not work out and realised we were meant for each other.”

“It took a while for us to get together but we got there.”

Tell us about the Engagement?

“We were going for a long weekend to Tenby after a terrifying holiday in Tunisia, we were there when the shooting happened.”

“Gary took a detour to our favourite dog walking place Selsey Common, Stroud, it was pouring with rain and windy, we walked up to the top and Gary got down on one knee and produced a beautiful ring and asked me to marry him.”

“How could I refuse, I said a Big YES and we hugged, soaked to the skin went back to the car to carry on to Tenby.”

“I was elated the whole journey and had to put it on FB after letting our family and friends know the news.”

Tell us about your wedding planning journey

“As soon as we saw Woodchester Mansion we knew this would be the venue.”

“A very small gathering of friends and family and we wanted our favourite music, a medieval theme and of course John Dowling and his birds.”

What was the theme /colour palette of your Big Day?

“Our theme was Medieval/Pagan, and the colour theme was Cadbury Purple.”

What was the best bit of your day?

“For me it was walking into my favourite song Fairytale by Omnia with Tony the Barn Owl and walking to my soulmate Gary and seeing his lovely face smiling at me.”

What advice would you give to other couples getting married?

“Just and relax and let everyone else run around for you, unfortunately we ended up running around a lot and did not feel totally relaxed, from clearing up at the end and then dashing off to our house and sorting our boys out (English Springer Spaniels).”

“Definitely have a video and photographer, there will be things you will not see on the day and it is lovely to look back on.  It was our second wedding for both of us, but we wanted to make the day special to us.”
