A Quintessentially English Rustic theme Wedding at Priors Tithe Barn

Today I am excited to share this beautiful quintessentially English Rustic theme Wedding at Priors Tithe Barn.

Images were captured by Hannah McClune Photography.

Hannah McClune is a wedding photographer covering Berkshire and the surrounding counties.

She says of her work, the couple, and their day…

“I just love weddings and being able to document couple’s celebrations is such a joy.”

“My enthusiasm and experience results in modern relaxed images of people having fun with those they love.”

“Hidden away in the Gloucestershire countryside is Priors Tithe Barn where Emily and David celebrated their Wedding Day.”

“It was styled by Lauradana at Wedding Creations in a luxurious rustic themwith lots of unique ideas to inspire you.”

“Emily wasn’t a Bride scared of doing what she had to for the perfect shots.”

“Hitching up her dress Emily declared a rusty old gate was not going to stop her getting into the fabulous corn field, and she swiftly climbed over.”

“Absolutely not the easiest thing to do in her beautiful La Sposa dress, but definitely worth it for their romantic sunset images.”

I now hand over to stunning Bride Emily…

How did you meet?…

“We met at work in London.”

“We were friends for a few months first and then things kicked off at a friend’s 40th birthday party.”

“David told everyone in his speech that I followed him around the office batting my eyelashes at him….”

“I would like to take this opportunity to set the record straight! It didn’t happen!”

Tell us about the Engagement…

“We got engaged just over two years later (at a fete in Clapham where we had gone on our first proper date) and then got married about 11 months later.”

Tell us about your Wedding Panning Journey…

“We got married at St Andrew’s Church in Miserden.”

“It was the church where David was christened, where his grandparents are buried, where one of his sister’s got married and in the village that he went to school.”

“We found the reception venue Priors Tithe Barn though before deciding on location of the wedding.”

“Its not a traditional wedding venue but we fell in love with it and the fact we could completely customise it in terms of caterers, decoration and use of the space meant we were sold from the first moment we saw it!”

“We didn’t have an event planner however we did have someone to help with styling – she was honestly the best use of money we could have spent.”

“She gave us tips on styling, provided almost all of the decoration and was there to set everything up the day before and take down the day after.”

“Laurdana of Wedding Creations was a god send and by the time we got to the wedding she was more a friend than a wedding stylist!”

“We picked the style based on things we like! For example we had vintage crockery instead of white plates.”

“We knew that it should be nice weather so we wanted everything to have a light feeling that wasn’t too fussy and expressed our personalities.”

“In this vein we decided to have Strawberries and cream instead of canapes along with Pimms and Prosecco for welcome drinks.”

“We wanted the whole wedding to feel relaxed and for everyone to enjoy themselves – that was how we planned quite a lot of the day!

“It wasn’t really until after the wedding that we realised the style of our wedding was quintessentially English – in fact it took a couple of our guests who had travelled from overseas to point it out to us!”

Hannah McClune was our photographer and I cannot recommend her highly enough.”

“We specifically wanted a relaxed approach to our photos and were much more interested in capturing the natural moments than lots of standing around for our guests whilst they waited for our having formal shots.”

“She got it just right and we were delighted at the results.”

“Lots of the guests commented on how well she blended into the day!”

“My dress was La Sposa from Sophie Grace Bridal in Wokingham and it made me feel like a princess, the back had such beautiful lace detail.”

“My sister made my beautiful veil and designed it specifically to go with my dress and the style of our wedding day, and I  wore my mum’s bracelet which belonged to her grandmother (so my great grandmother).”

“To bring the bridal look together I asked Abi from Oxfordshire Wedding Hair to do our hair.”

“I bought David a Pocket watch for his wedding gift and to accessorise his suit which he wore on the day from Black Tie in Crowthorne.

“Our beautiful flowers were from Bumblebeez in Cheltenham.”

“I knew straight away that I wanted a naked cake.”

“We wanted someone local to the venue and of course the cake had to be delicious.”

“We had a great tasting session with Hannah Hickman to pick the cake flavours and she very kindly let us have both sets of parents with us.”

“The cake was both beautiful and tasty and we were delighted that there was plenty of cake left over for us to share with family and enjoy for a good few days after the wedding.”

“We chose Hey Pesto to cater our wedding, firstly they met our objectives for being local to the venue and lovely people but also because the food was incredible!”

“We were not sure whether the food on the day would live up to the tasting but it absolutely did and we had tons of compliments on the food.”

“They were really flexible and creative with our request for Pimms and strawberries and cream as a welcome snack!

“They also arranged for someone to roast a hog which we had been gifted by David’s brother in law as a wedding present!”

“The car was David’s choice as he loves American Classic cars and our first holiday together was a road trip around America.”

“Again we went with a possible non-traditional option in that it wasn’t through a company but rather a chap who had bought and restored a 1946 Hudson Commodore 6 and truly loved his car.”

“This was one of our favourite parts of the day as we got to sit and relax on our own for half an hour (he took us the long route to give us a chance to catch up) and drink some bubbly.”

“I would thoroughly recommend him and the car!”

“We used a colleague of mine who designs in her spare time and she designed and printed all of the stationery for us.”

“Rather than traditional place cards our wedding stylist burned the names of each guest onto small cross sections of wood using a soldering iron which really fitted in with our English rustic theme Wedding.”

“She also burned the menu onto a large cross-section of log to go next to the table plan.” (like I said she really was brilliant)

What was the best bit of your Wedding Day?…

“The bits that stick most prominently in my mind are; getting ready in the morning (it was so much fun), walking into the church and David and I seeing each other, we both grinned!”

“David’s favourite part of the day was the car ride from the church to the reception; I loved the pre wedding breakfast part because we got to catch up with everyone.”

“At the end of the night as the last song finished everyone gathered around us and started spontaneously clapping – we were so overwhelmed! We realised we had truly had the best day of our lives!”

What advice would you give to other couples getting married?…

“My advice to couples is to ENJOY IT!! You will miss it when it’s all over.”

“Although it feels very stressful and you wonder how you will ever get everything to come together, you will and it will be the best day of your life!”

“David and I did absolutely everything together, it meant we shared the responsibility and both created the day that we had.”

“We got involved in all the detail which was consuming in the run up to the day but ultimately meant we could totally relax on the wedding day and let it all play out.”
