I hand over to gorgeous Bride Natalie to share the couples story…

How did you meet?

“After 23 years of living in the same small town, strangely enough we’d never laid eyes on each other until a Christmas party, two days after I returned from teaching in South Korea.”

“I wasn’t sure whether I would be staying in England or returning to South East Asia but he gave me a reason to stay- the rest is history!”

Tell us about the Engagement…

“We got engaged on Boxing Day 3 years after we first met.”

“We had a special meal and drinks arranged for our anniversary but things quickly went pear shaped when the restaurant manager didn’t check the details of our reservation.”

“When we were sat in the middle of the restaurant, David’s nerves were through the roof and I was non-the-wiser.”

“He was too nervous to eat his main course and I had absolutely no idea.”

“He produced a small black box from his pocket and still, I’d assumed it would be an anniversary gift – maybe a nice set of earrings?”

“He opened the box and asked me how to say ‘will you marry me’ in Korean – I was absolutely gobsmacked.”

“The beautiful pear shaped diamond took my breath away.”

“We returned home and a surprise party had been arranged with our closest friends and family; best Boxing Day ever.”

Tell us about your wedding planning journey

“After being let down by three venues, we were worried that things wouldn’t fall into place but it all worked out for the best and Doxford Barns couldn’t have been more perfect for our combination of rustic glam.”

“We knew from the start that we wanted a wedding weekend so we could share it more closely with family and friends.”

“I’m very sentimental and believe you will get the feeling when you’re at the right place and now I believe in fate.”

“Doxford Barns wasn’t around when we booked our first venue, hence why we couldn’t have considered it but the feeling we both got when we walked into the Threshing Hall was magical and it was a feeling I had been waiting for.”

“It was worth every worry and the tears that were shed along the way.”

What was the theme /colour palette of your Big Day?

“We wanted a relaxed romantic rustic feel with a touch of glam.”

“We coupled blush and navy with touches of gold and rose gold.”

“We also chose to add little wooden extras to tie in with the rustic element.”

What was the best bit of your day?

“For me it was when he saw me for the first time.”

“I had been dreaming of that moment for so long and when I picked my wedding dress, I knew it was the one because I just couldn’t wait for him to see me in it.”

“For him it was a particular moment after the speeches and food where we sat looking out at everyone feeling so lucky and grateful for our family, friends and loved ones and so proud that they were sharing the day with us.”

What advice would you give to other couples getting married?

“No matter what happens along the way, you will make it and it will be the most perfect day.”

“Always remember why you are getting married and enjoy every single second of your wedding day.”

“If you can, find time on the day to spend five minutes together alone, it will be precious.”

“I really didn’t think being married would feel different but it feels so much better.”

“You are so lucky to have found the person you want to spend forever with.”

Thank you so much to Chocolate Chip Photography for sharing this stunning rustic glam wedding.

So much creativity has gone into this beautiful day with the couple showing their heart, and personality.

Love the soft blush, navy and gold palette bringing warmth to this pretty winter celebration.
