Today I am thrilled to share this lovely Staffordshire Wedding at Somerford Hall with pretty pink and blue details.
Sarah and Joe were married on 9th April 2016.
Images were captured by Cris Lowis Photography.
Cris Lowis a full time Staffordshire wedding photographer based in Stafford who captures your day with a natural and story telling style.
I hand over to Cris to share his recollections from the couples day…
“Sarah and Joe had their wedding at Somerford Hall in Staffordshire during early April.”
“Whilst I’ve shot at Somerford before it was great to be back again as I hadn’t been to the venue for about 12 months.”
“Somerford Hall is an elegant Palladian mansion set amongst 100 acres of landscaped parkland in the beautiful South Staffordshire countryside, and the venue is one of those places that has so many awesome photo opportunities both inside and out.”
“When I arrived at Joe’s house in the morning all his guys were there enjoying an early beer whilst they were getting ready.”
“Its fair to say Joe was feeling a little nervous at this point and he tells me it got worse leading up to the ceremony!”
“After spending a few minutes with the lads I headed to Sarah parents house where she was having her hair and make up done with all her bridesmaids.”
“There was more of an air of excitement rather than nerves and I don’t think I’ve ever been offered so many cups of tea and croissants in my life, certainly kept me going for a while!”
“Sarah and Joe’s ceremony was a mixture of tears and laughter….”
“I’m not going to reveal what Joe accidentally said during the ceremony but lets just say it was an all time classic.”
“Later during the day we nipped outside for some portraits and groups before the weather started to take a turn for the worst and we had to dash indoors.”
“Fortunately the rain was short lived and we were able to go back out for a few more shots including some stunning evening light which I really wish I could bottle and take to every wedding!”
I hand over to gorgeous Bride Sarah…
How did you meet?
“We met on a Saturday night out in Wolverhampton, in Blast off at the Civic Hall. I think it was September time in 2010.”
“Not overly romantic really, we kind of saw each other from across the room but we were both very very drunk!”
Tell us about the Engagement
“We got engaged on the 14th of January 2015.”
“I’d turned 30 at the endof December and really wanted to go to Paris so we’d booked a short trip & Joe proposed at night in front of the Eiffel Tower.”
Tell us about your wedding planning journey
“We started thinking about setting a date straight away as we didn’t want to be engaged for a long time.”
“We found it hard to work out budgets at first as we had no idea what things would cost!”
“We both agreed that we didn’t want a huge wedding & set out to look for a venue that suited us.”
“We wanted it to be elegant but not too formal as we wanted guests to feel relaxed.”
“After looking at a few places Somerford Hall really stood out from the start, it was exactly what we were looking for & the staff were so friendly & answered all of our questions.”
We went to a few local wedding fairs too which helped to give us ideas and find some of our suppliers.”
“Looking for my dress was great as I made a day of it with my mom & sister and went to a few different shops.”
“I had a rough idea in my head of what I was looking for but did try on quite a few different styles.”
“I decided on my MGNY dress because I loved the style and the low back.”
“With the planning our estimated budgets went out the window a bit, some things were more than we expected so we compromised a bit on bits that we felt didn’t matter so much.”
“For example I did the favours and table numbers myself and we designed the invitations through a website.”
What was the best bit of your day?
“Its so hard choosing just one part! I loved the whole thing from start to finish.”
“I loved the prep in the morning, getting pampered & drinking champagne with my mom & my bridesmaids, it was lovely and relaxed.”
“Unfortunately Joe wasn’t quite so relaxed and he was much happier once the ceremony was done, he found the build-up very stressful.”
What advice would you give to other couples getting married?
“Being organised helps make it a little less stressful!”
“We kept spreadsheets for everything, one for budgets & making a note of what needed to be paid when and another for guest lists i.e. day/evening/children/dietary requirements/who has or hasn’t rsvp’d.”
“We also set up a joint email address when we sent the invites out for the RSVPs but I wish we’d done it sooner & used it for correspondence with all our suppliers.”
“That way it would have been easier as we both had access to it.”
“We were heavily budgeting for the wedding so didn’t have a lot of spare cash but we still tried to make the effort to have days out or date nights together where we could forget about the planning & just enjoy ourselves.”
“We made good use of clubcard points, groupon deals, special offers etc!”
Thank you so much to Cris for sharing this beautiful Staffordshire Wedding.
Love the beautiful pink tones running through the florals and styling, and the pretty blue of the bridesmaids gowns is the perfect compliment to a spring Big Day.
Such a glorious venue and the perfect location for a relaxed celebration of love…
