Today I am thrilled to share this stunning colourful Manchester wedding with pretty raspberry pink and navy details.

Maddie says of the couples day…
Back in April I photographed Tracey & Nev’s colourful Manchester wedding at one of my favourite city centre venues, The Castlefield Rooms.
Tracey & Nev had seen some of my photos previously from around Castlefield & loved how I included the architecture & industrial vibe of Manchester.
I loved Tracey’s vintage style hair & makeup and of course her navy dress and fabulous raspberry pink shoes.
Full of sentimental details & speeches, this day really touched my heart.
Tracey walked down the aisle to the Feather Theme from Forest Gump – Nev’s favourite film.
They also read personalised vows and there were quite a few tears during the speeches too!
Tracey & Nev had lots of family & friends who had travelled far and wide to celebrate their day with them and you could really feel the love in the room.
Tracey & Nev are truly soulmates and I was honoured to be a part of their day.
Bride Tracey tells us the couples love story…
How did you meet?
We met online in March 2016 …I was Nevs first date. ..and he was my last!
Despite being mature and maybe a little cynical, the moment our eyes first met at the side of Hollingworth Lake, he literally took my breath away! Nev felt the same.
We knew it was something special. …and two coffees later our ‘story’ began.
We both referred to this special moments in their respective wedding speeches….without each other knowing!
Tell us about the proposal…
It was my birthday. …which consisted of a series of envelopes with clues to guide me through the day and towards a new car! (Complete with balloons!).
We’d got ready for dinner when Nev told me there was one more card.
When I opened it the front of the card said ‘Future Mr &Mrs’…..I was confused!
Inside was a beautiful poem ending with. ..’Will you Marry me ‘! I was totally shocked! Lots of tears!
What is special about your venue?
We have spent many hours socialising in Castlefield so it was our only choice for our colourful Manchester Wedding !
We love the energy, the industrialised architecture, the canal, and the contrast between old and new.
We loved its space too, and our wedding co-ordinator Becky was totally amazing and genuinely excited to be planning with us!
I held the rein on a spreadsheet of sequential actions and associated costs which we worked through in the 8-12 months up to the wedding.
Nev works away quite a lot so decisions were often discussed and made on a Skype date!
Any details of note about your big day?
We have a beautiful harpist for the ceremony.
I entered to the music from Nevs favourite film – Forrest Gump. It was called the Feather Theme.
I also bought Nev some feather cufflinks as a surprise on the day.
On our way back up the aisle we left to one of my favourite uplifting tunes….Nella Fantasia .
We wanted to create an elegant wedding theme – with some individual touches.
I’m quite creative so to personalise the day – and keep the costs down I did much of the small ‘stuff’ myself, making the invites, the place cards, table cards and seating plan.
I also did a sketch from a photo of the venue printed onto small cards with a little question written on the back!
Our favours contained our favourite sweets, white mice and coconut mushrooms!
My dress was a calf length, midnight blue design, with raspberry pink shoes. …which I really loved!
The flowers were primarily cream, with lots of dark green foliage and little pops of raspberry pink to compliment my shoes.
My daughter Jessica and her husband James were our witnesses.
My best friends husband Stephen walked me down the aisle. I’ve known both Ann and Stephen for 42 years so this was so special!
Another good friend Tim did a beautiful reading called ‘Maybe ‘. The words are poignant.
Finally, we had an international guest list!
Nevs sister from the States, two of my half sisters and their families from Australia, step mum from Bulgaria, and other half sister and her family from Belfast. Friends came from all over the UK!
What was the best bit of your day?
For Nev he says it was the moment he saw me for the first time.
I don’t really have one special moment. It was all truly magical!
Everything went to plan…in fact exceeded our expectations.
If she had to choose one special moment it would be hearing Nev’s heartfelt speech…truly beautiful.
After the wedding day it was really exciting receiving our photos of the day!
Is there anything you would do differently?
We would have video’d the day so we can relive every moment frame by frame.
What advice would you give to other couples getting married?
Don’t sweat the small stuff when planning, have fun sharing the decision making….and on the day take some time out to simply enjoy!
