Today I am excited to share this stunning Edinburgh Wedding at the Balmoral Hotel with sunflowers & a whisky theme.
Images were captured by Meagan Sarah Photography.
Meagan is a Wedding and portrait photographer based in Horsforth, Leeds, West Yorkshire.
In the Wedding industry she has over eight years of professional photography experience.
She studied at Carlisle Institute Of The Arts and graduated with a BA Honors degree in photographic practice.
Before setting up her own photographic studio, she worked alongside the North East’s leading wedding and portrait photographers for a number of years, assisting in every aspect of photography.
She says of her work.. “Wedding photography should be a reflection of a bride and grooms day exactly the way they want to remember it.”
“I listen to my clients needs and work with them to make sure I record it just the way they want it.”
“Mixing in my personal style of photography, creating bright, fun photography without obstructing their happy day.”
“I feel privileged to do what I do, I love it so much!”
“I now offer free engagement sessions for a way to try my service out before paying a deposit so you know 100% if I am right for you before committing, it’s a win win situation (and so much fun in the process!).”
I hand over to Meagan to share her recollections of the couple and their day…
“I arrived at the Balmoral Hotel in Edinburgh to a warm welcome in a beautiful grand entrance hall.”
“I first went to see Melanie getting ready in her prep-room with all her bridesmaids and her beautiful little baby boy.”
“There was a great calm around Melanie and I knew that it was going to be such a relaxed and smooth wedding day.”
“The whole day was filled with happiness which was helped by their brilliant master of Ceremonies who was such a great character.”
“Their wedding ceremony was simply beautiful, even I was finding it hard to hold back tears of joy for this beautiful couple.”
“To finish off the day perfectly they had a Ceilidh which was of course great fun for the guests and got them all on the dancefloor.”
“And I have to give it to Melanie and Oliver, I think they actually managed to dance every ceilidh dance routine.”
I hand over to beautiful Bride Melanie…
How did you meet?
“We met out dancing at a Club called 5th Avenue in Manchester city centre, and the rest is history.”
When did you get engaged?
“We got engaged in October 2013 in Edinburgh.”
Tell us about your wedding planning journey
“Olly proposed in Edinburgh Castles Great Hall so I knew straight away that we were going to get married in Edinburgh.”
“We stayed at the Balmoral when the proposal happened and I quickly asked the staff, the day after the proposal, for a tour of the wedding suites.”
“The following month, we booked the Balmoral for our wedding.”
“I wanted the wedding to be laid back and relaxed with no fuss, and thats the attitude I had towards the planning process.”
“Olly loves Whisky so we went with the whisky theme for the big day.”
“We then fell unexpectedly pregnant in November 2014.”
“Planning a wedding and birth/babys room/etc was stressful at times but, we would not have it any other way.”
“We felt complete that we had our special guest attending our wedding.”
When did you get married?
“We were married on the 19th of July 2015.”
What was the best bit of your day?
“The wedding breakfast was fabulous. Myself and Olly were relaxed amongst our friends and family eating the most amazing food.”
The speeches were spot on too, and everybodys smiley laughing faces just confirmed how brilliant the day was.”
What advice would you give to other couples getting married?
“The day goes so fast and its so busy.”
“Make sure you take some special moments out with each other to take it all in.”
Thank you so much to Meagan for sharing this incredible Edinburgh Wedding.
Love the pretty sunflowers in the bridal bouquet and floral arrangements, such a vibrant flower and striking in styling.
Also loved the use of whiskey bottles for flower vases, an economical, stylish and clever re-use.
And the beautiful Edinburgh backdrop is just a perfect setting for this beautiful day.
