A Stunning Kelham House Wedding with a Cow theme

Today I am excited to kick off the week with an incredible Kelham House Wedding with the very unusual but very fun Cow theme.

Images were captured by M.P Media.

Weddings by MP (MP Media) consists of a team of multi-talented individuals, their skill-sets compliment each other perfectly, with the main photographers/videographers being Mark and Pamela.

They both specialise in Fine Art Photojournalism, and if one of them is capturing timeless images, the other is processing your stunning collection; so you can be assured that your photographs are always treated as their number one priority.

Pamela and Mark of M.P Media say of the day…

“Our first port-of-call on this very special day was Jack’s hotel, The Grange, Newark , where he and his family were all dressed and ready to go.”

“We took the group into the beautiful gardens of the Grange Hotel for a few family portraits.”

“Jack is a farmer, and his immaculately turned-out Landrover Defender, complete with the requisite ribbons, served as additional wedding transport.”

“This wasn’t the last time the farming theme would be evident, as we were to discover.”

“Our next stop was to join bride Harriet at her home which was conveniently situated across the road from Cromwell Church where she would marry Jack.”

“As is so often the case with bridal preparations, everything was cool, calm and collected and we didn’t see any stress throughout.”

Jenn Edwards provided her expert hair and make-up skills to the proceedings, and we took the opportunity to cross the road to see their lovely florist Jenny from the Flower Barn attaching beautiful creations to the end of each pew.”

“Back at her parent’s home, Harriet had changed into her very special wedding dress.”

“She designed the dress herself, and a local dressmaker, Sue Gilbert, turned her creation into reality.”

“With Cromwell Church in such close proximity, Harriet took the short walk across the road with her father and bridesmaids to the ceremony.”

“With their beautiful ceremony complete, there was time for a handful of formal photographs outside Cromwell Church before heading to the reception venue, Kelham House.”

“Kelham House Country Manor Hotel in Newark remains one of our favourite wedding venues.”

“This stunning venue is only made available on an ‘exclusive use’ basis, and provides every amenity including overnight accommodation, beautiful grounds, woodland area, various sized rooms with a large dining room and modern bar area.”

“While the guests enjoyed drinks and canapés, we enjoyed watching Mind Reader, Magician and Entertainer Looch in action.”

“Close-up magicians are a popular and exciting way of providing entertainment at your wedding, and we have had the pleasure of photographing dozens of entertainers over the years.”

“Looch, however, is something completely different, and is in another league altogether.”

“Forget tricks with decks of cards, Looch uses psychology, body language, and goodness knows what else as part of his show.”

“Looch expertly worked his way around the busy bar area, wowing the guests with his fantastic skills.”

“People were asked to write random items onto a card… something that Looch would never guess.”

“When he entertained the newlyweds, it’s worth mentioning that Looch was stood the other side of the room at this stage, and upon his return he was able to ‘guess’ what had been written.”

“Harriet and Jack’s reaction was brilliant! And they were both left astonished.”

“The dining room at Kelham House Country Manor Hotel had been decorated to perfection.”

“Each table was named after a breed of cow, and the couple had commissioned ice sculptures from Global Ice Sculptures which were the centrepiece of each table. Each block of ice contained a sheaf of wheat tied with a ribbon.”

“Each sculpture lasted hours before they melted, and the couple had a larger ice sculpture with their names carved out. It was something different, and was a beautiful and stylish touch.”

“With a series of hilarious speeches complete, the time had come for the couple’s first dance, and we left Kelham House Country Manor Hotel having shared a wonderful day with a very special couple.”

I now hand over to Harriet (the bride)  who tells the story of her wedding…

Tell us about the Engagement

“We got engaged in Australia on Christmas Day.”

“Although winning Agricultural Student of the Year and having the opportunity to go to Australia I was reluctant to leave Jack.”

“He came out at the end of November to spend Christmas and New Year with me and it was a really special time.”

“We travelled to Sydney for New Year and this is where he was supposed to propose, however he decided to propose a week earlier on Christmas day so that he could enjoy New Year.”

Our Wedding Venues

“We got married at Cromwell Church opposite my Mum and Dad’s House.”

“The choice was between my church or Jack’s, we looked for the venue first and then the church was chosen after choosing Kelham House Country Manor Hotel to host our wedding reception.”

“We chose Kelham House Country Manor Hotel purely down to the expertise of the staff and the beautiful photography opportunities.”

Our style and wedding theme

We had a traditional/country/cow theme wedding. It was very much ‘us’ in a theme.”

“We are both related to Agriculture in some way and met whilst studying an Agricultural Degree.”

“The colours we chose just went so nicely together and were warm and loving just like our relationship.”

My Dress

“I knew exactly what I wanted. I had been drawing one since we got engaged. I found a woman in the next village (Sue Gilbert Designs) who agreed to make my dress.”

“We chose the fabric, colours and embellishment.”

“Looking back after the dress was made just shows, I really did know exactly what I wanted my dress to look like as it was more or less identical to my first design.”

Suppliers

The suppliers involved in our wedding were all so professional and calm and collected – although I was too, which Jenn  my MUA/Hair Stylist commented on.”

“There isn’t any point in getting stressed out because at the end of the day the wedding is the most important part and as long as you are married at the end what else really matters?”

“The photographers (Pamela and Mark Pugh) were great, they were informative and saw shots that we would not have necessarily thought of.”

“Jenn Edwards (MUA/Hair Stylist) was brilliant, she knew and saw what hair and make up would suit me and the Bridesmaids.”

“Jenny Knight, the florist at The Flower Barn was absolutely amazing, I told her what we would like and she was able to do everything we requested.”

“Sue Gilbert was amazing, her technique and expertise in dress-making is outstanding, my dress was made to 100% perfection. And I love it!!”

“Beth Rushton Cakes did a fantastic job on our cake – It was exactly what I had designed and the cake topper was so personal to us. It was wonderful.”

Advice to other couples

“STAY CALM! There is no need to panic. Give plenty of time. Make payments in small chunks. Be sensible about what you REALLY need and enjoy it!”

“If you have planned your wedding as well as Jack and I did, you will be able to sit back and relax and watch everyone having a great time.”

The Honeymoon

“We went to Scotland and it was beautiful – Even the weather shone for us!”

“We had an excellent time and went whale watching out in the Hebrides which was AMAZING.”

“The place where we stayed was lovely and they had left us Champagne, chocolate and flowers. Such a lovely little gesture that made our holiday. We loved every minute!”

Thank you to Mark and Pam for sharing this amazing Kelham House Wedding.

The warm red colour palette compliments the wheatsheaf touches that flow through the styling of the day, from buttonholes to pew ends to centrepieces.

The cow inspired theme perfectly represents the couple and their agricultural background and is effortlessly elegant.
