A stunning Scottish Highlands Wedding at Eilean Donan Castle

Today I am thrilled to share this stunning Scottish Highlands Wedding at Eilean Donan Castle.

The couple are are Emily and Mike and they crossed an ocean to come make memories and hold their destination Wedding at the remote but incredible location.

Images were captured by Andy at Peacock Obscura Photography.

Andy Pickard is a wedding photographer based in Derby.

He has always believed that life is a celebration – and weddings are a vitally important part of the celebration of life.

He is a Yorkshireman, hailing originally from the rugged beauty of Bronte country.

Before taking the plunge into making my passion for photography his full-time job, he worked in many different walks of life, with all sorts of people, and enjoyed every second.

Living life to the full is key to him – he has been a roadie for rock bands, loves riding motorcycles, have climbed volcanoes to meet mountain gorillas, ridden in Zodiac inflatables and tracked sperm whales in the Atlantic.

He has always carried his camera to capture the joy and magic of the moment, and to preserve it forever to show his kids – and someday their kids too – how he lived his life.

His photography aims to document the joy of life for generations to come. Every day is a part of life’s journey, and he loves capturing the joy of that special day when a couple join together as one.

He lives for the pleasure of creating a unique collection of magical moments to be treasured by the couple and their family for decades and generations still to come.

I hand over to Andy….

“Emily and Mike’s wedding was no ordinary affair, they tied the knot at Eilean Donan Castle in the Highlands of Scotland.”

“Situated at the point where three great sea lochs converge, and surrounded by stunning mountain scenery, Eilean Donan Catsle has become one of the most iconic images of Scotland and is recognised all over the world.”

“Although first inhabited around the 6th century, the first fortified castle was built in the mid 13th century and stood guard over the lands of Kintail.”

“Since then, at least four different versions of the castle have been built and re-built as the feudal history of Scotland unfolded through the centuries.”

“As a location it is gloriously unique, but as a wedding venue, quite simply spectacular.”

The couple came all the way from Canada to celebrate their union to find it pouring with rain for the week before the big day.”

“Emily and Mike brought a select group of family and friends with them after their initial elopement plans were discovered, this meant that the castle’s perfect setting was enhanced by the warmth of family feeling and it was clear to see that it was a magical experience for all involved.”

“I met up with them the day before and it was still misty and wet. I was stressing about the weather but they replied it doesn’t matter we are here and its beautiful!”

“I woke up the next day to miraculously find beautiful sunshine and a perfect day.”

” I was really excited about this wedding partially because it was set in a castle from one of my all time favourite movies, Highlander!”

“The day did not disappoint and the memory of it will stay with me for a very long time”

“Following this wedding I was thrilled to have been added as a recommended supplier for Eilean donan as the events manager was impressed by my creative use of the castle interior for some stunning shots and remarked that she had never seen couples photographed in some of the locations I chose.”

Thank you so much to Andy for sharing this stunning Scottish Highlands Wedding.

The location is absolutely breathtaking and what better place than to say your vows than surrounded by the exquisite Scottish landscape and some amazing history.
