Today I am incredibly excited to kick off the week with this awesome Shropshire Wedding with a Navy Groom, hints of vintage and stunning DIY elements.
Images of the day were captured by Dominic Fletcher of Cloud 9 Wedding Photography.
Dominic Fletcher of Cloud 9 Wedding Photography is based in Ludlow, Shropshire.
He likes to use a mix of Photographic skills throughout a Wedding day but mainly documentary photography, but assures attention to detail, and making the most of natural light.
He enjoys creating images that are unique and even a bit quirky.
I pass over to beautiful Bride Hannah to share her story….
How did you meet?
“We met when Wayne who is in the Royal Navy was on an course at a base near Shrewsbury.”
“We met in a local bar on a Monday evening.”
“It was pure fate that we were to meet as I only happened to be there with much persuasion from friends as during that particular early evening I was in my pyjamas ready to go to bed.”
When did you get engaged?
“We got engaged in September 2011 at my Nurse Graduation ball. Wayne was very romantic!”
Tell us about your wedding planning journey.
“We had been to lots of wedding venues. Many being hotels, however we decided that we wanted to have our own bespoke wedding with no limitations.”
“We decided to find a quaint village hall somewhere with a place we could have a marquee.”
“We viewed many in Shropshire and were thrilled to find a beautiful village hall in the rolling countryside of Cardington, near Church Stretton.”
“The farmer rented us the adjoining field for the marquee to be placed.”
“Our vision was to have a humanistic wedding ceremony performed by a celebrant from our family. This was held in the marquee.”
“We had the main wedding breakfast which consisted of afternoon tea to accommodate our vintage theme along with vintage music in the village hall.”
“We then moved on to the marquee later on in the evening and enjoyed a BBQ and a fantastic live band.
“My mum was the main wedding planner.”
“She organised the venue, booked a local caterer, hired a VW camper van, booked the band and also arranged family craft evenings.”
“Each Wednesday we would meet up 6 months prior to our wedding to make items for the day including; Invitations, place cards, table plans , jars decorated with lace, bunting, photo booth items, post box, and items for our own sweet shop.”
“We collected vintage china and glass from friends, car boot sales and charity shops.”
“My aunties were a huge support as one made the wedding cake including tiers of cupcakes with a vintage rose design.”
“My other Aunty organised the flowers via a friend and arranged them on the day in jars, vases and birdcages.”
“A lot the decoration preparation was around 2 days prior to the wedding with lots of support from family and friends.”
When did you get married?
“We were married on May 18th 2013.”
What was the best bit of your day?
“The whole day was fantastic, a special moment was when we completed hand fasting ceremony with members of our family who lay different coloured ribbons over our joined hands to represent various things such as happiness, wealth and fertility to name a few.”
“These were tied which represented the “tying of the knot”.
“My mum organised a surprise magician who entertained our guests. That was a wow factor.”
“The band in the evening were also very entertaining.”
“They were able to capture the attention of a wide age range of guests by in cooperating tributes to acts such as Tom Jones and Robbie Williams, and in between they played popular up to date music.”
What advice would you give to other couples getting married?
“Don’t be limited to what hotels provide.”
“Have your wedding how you want it to be.”
“Be creative. You can create anything you want to for a reasonable price.”
“It is such a special day that goes very quickly. It needs to be a special and unique day to remember.”
Thank you so much to Dominic for sharing this utterly incredible Shropshire Wedding, in a setting that could not be more perfect.
It would be hard not to love everything from the Vintage theme to the lovingly home baked cupcakes.
So much creativity has gone into making this Big Day, and it could not be more family centred with all the involvement in fabulous DIY projects that span the length of the planning from stationery to decor.
