An awesome Wild west inspired Wedding with cowboys, country music and sunflowers

Today I am excited to share this awesome Wild west inspired Wedding with cowboys, country music and sunflowers.

Pack a rodeo bull, free flowing beer, line dancing, a stunning barn packed full with multitudes of amazing handmade decor, and Ellen and Alexs day is truly inspirational.

Images were captured by Zest Photography.

Zest Photography are Wedding and Portrait photographers based in Sussex and covering Surrey, Hampshire or anywhere in the UK and abroad..

They are Rod and Julie Davies – professional, full time wedding photographers bringing a wealth of experience and a real passion for every wedding that they shoot.

They came together and formed Zest just after they married in 2005 and have been booked out for weddings all over the UK and abroad ever since!

They say of the couple and their day…

We initially bumped into Ellen and Alex at a wedding fayre and then popped around their house for a chat.

They were full of wonderful ideas for the day and we were ever so excited when they booked us!

Attention to detail shone throughout the day.

From Alex’s belt buckle and cowboy hat to Ellens cowboy boots. Alex had made most of the props including the light up love letters and even the photo booth from reclaimed timber!

The whole day was very well thought out and the big splashes of bright yellow sunflowers just popped everywhere.

The couple say of their day…

How did you meet?

We have known each other since middle school and remained friends all the way through until leaving high school.

It wasn’t until our college years that our friendship moved to the next level and the rest they see is history.

Tell us about the Engagement…

Alex took his time to say the least and there was lots of occasions where I though “ you know what it could be today”

However it was an unsuspecting New Years Eve party in 2015.

Alex was planning one of his famous Garden parties as usual but this time the theme was Las Vegas which we both love and have had many memorable visits there.

The night was fantastic, we had poker tables, showgirls and a mini cabaret, then Alex took the stage and began to sing (not unusual by the way).

However he then turned the serenade to me and in turn sang Matt Goss’s song “I Do”

And then it happened. he proposed and it was very surreal but also really amazing.

The night just got better from then on.

Tell us about your wedding planning journey…

Ellen didn’t want to hang around as she had already waited nearly 10 years for the proposal….

We had booked the Sullington Barn on the 16th January and we had to get moving, our wedding date was 5th August 2017.

The whole journey was pretty smooth as we both have very similar tastes and had the ideas already in our heads.

I am very creative and hands so was very keen to do a lot of it myself. and Ellen well, she’s female and has been planning her big day since she was a little girl.

One big distraction that rocked the journey a bit and that was finding out we were expecting a little boy before the big day.

Things kind of got put on hold when he came as expected.

We did however get back on track an managed to do all the bits we wanted before then

What was the theme  and colour palette of your Big Day?

Cowboys, country music and sunflowers.

We brought Texas to Sussex!

What was the best bit of your day?

Having everyone there to share it with and tying the knot as childhood sweethearts.

But if we were isolate one thing it would be the theme itself, Everyone who knows us will know that we both love Country Music and western life.

Seeing it all come together with taste and class and not some cheesy spaghetti western movie was brilliant.

And we loved how our guest embraced it and got involved too!

What advice would you give to other couples getting married?

Don’t be afraid to roll with some out there ideas!

Too many people go for what I call magazine weddings which are your cliché days that have lots of lovely things but no personalisation.

Themed weddings don’t mean fancy dress! I would also encourage people not to be lazy if you can build/make it then do it.

The rewards are far greater than just buying stuff of the shelf!

And finally although this day is about you, you really do have to put on a great party at the end of the day!! Think about how your guests can have fun!

Fill it with lots of little surprises that make the day flow rather than blow all your budget on something like food or venue.

Your guests want to get merry and have a good old knees up!
