Today I am thrilled to share this elegant and intimate Manchester Wedding at the Didsbury House Hotel.
Images were captured by Delicious Photography.
Kathryn of Delicious Photography is a Lancashire Photographer based in Accrington and covering North West England.
Her love for the lens started 12 years ago as she started a college course part time around her job in Finance.
She did a lot of travelling and volunteering overseas whilst doing her degree and set up a business to fund these trips.
As she began shooting weddings she realised how much she loved everything about them and Delicious Photography began.
She feels lucky enough to do the thing she loves the most for a job, and feels she has found her calling in life!
She likes to capture your day naturally and tell the story as it happens without lots of posing or staging.
Her style can be described as modern and fresh documentary wedding photography.
She likes to blend in with your guests to capture the natural spontaneous moments.
She says of the couple and their day…
“Alison & Danny’s wedding was an intimate affair, at the lovely Didsbury House Hotel set near the centre of Disbury, Manchester.”
“Didsbury House Hotel is the perfect small wedding venue, with its victorian charm and original features and small but well kept gardens.”
“Arriving at Alison and Danny’s house in the morning, I couldn’t have been made to feel more welcome, as mother and daughter started their preparations for the wedding.”
“Alison’s daughter Kate had flown back from Australia and Son Mark back from Cyprus where they both live, so Alison’s excitement and emotion at having them both together was hard to miss.”
“The mornings preparations were seamless and relaxed with Danny getting ready just upstairs, although completely banned from the living room where Alison’s wedding dress was hanging up!”
“After almost forgetting the rings, the boys headed off to Didsbury House Hotel where i met them just before the ceremony.”
“Alison arrived in a VW Campervan also named Danny, which was a surprise for her new husband.”
“The ceremony was very emotional and moving, Alison and Danny couldn’t have looked more thrilled to be married and despite having photographed over 200 ceremonies it even made me well up seeing their love for each other.”
“The day continued to be just as relaxed until the speeches with a difference!”
“Danny stood up and did the obligatory thanks and compliments to his new wife before serenading her with his guitar with a touching medley telling her how much he loved her in the best way he knew, luckily Danny is a great singer and guitarist, there literally wasn’t a dry eye in the room!”
How did you meet?
“Danny & I met totally unexpectedly when I was working at a firm of solicitors and I was sent to take some witness statements at the company where he worked.”
“Not the most romantic of settings or beginnings but love finds a way!”
Tell us about the Engagement?
“I wish there was an interesting story to tell here, but it was more the case that after many years together we both felt the time was right to get married.”
“Danny asked me to marry him whilst we were having a meal at one of our favourite restaurants, and of course I said yes straightaway.”
Tell us about your wedding planning journey –
“Having been together for such a long time we decided there was no point in having a long engagement, so we chose a date of 19 June 2016 which has a very special meaning to us, and got on with the plans straightaway.”
“As soon as we found the venue, which was just perfect for us for a small wedding, and confirmed the date, we were lucky that everything else fell into place for us.”
What was the best bit of your day?
“Having my daughter Kate & her boyfriend Paul there as they live in Australia, and my son Mark as he was working in Greece at the time, made it the perfect day for us.”
“Our best friends, Julie & Mick also made the day special, Mick decorated his car and drove Danny, Paul & Mark to the wedding, and Julie, Kate and I travelled there in a beautiful camper van which coincidentally was called Danny!”
“We also had Didsbury String Quartet to play for us during the ceremony and the reception, and everyone loved them.”
What advice would you give to other couples getting married?
“Just do whatever you want to do and is right for you.”
“We have both been married before so we only wanted a small wedding but we did want it to be as special as possible.”
