Pamela and Mark share their recollections of the couples Big Day…

“The MP Team joined Sarah for her bridal preparations at home, before she departed to meet her future husband, Martyn.”

“With hair already done by Shelley Collier, we arrived and found Sarah and the rest of her bridesmaids having their make-up expertly applied by Jenni from Make-up by Jenni.”

“As her cats decided to go for a walk in the rain(!), Sarah’s mum fired-up the hob in the kitchen, and cooked a large round of sausages.”

“Sarah’s father arrived a short while later in his white Rolls Royce; the perfect car to take your daughter to her wedding in.”

“Meanwhile, over at the wedding and reception venue, Goosedale, groom Martyn was greeting the guests as they arrived, and with everyone seated, he took some time to inspect the beautiful table decorations in the wedding breakfast room.”

“Martyn then took his position at the end of the high-beamed ceremony room, ready for Sarah’s arrival.”

“As Sarah’s car drew-up outside the venue, there was a brief chat with the registrars before she took the walk down the long red carpet to meet her future husband Martyn, arm-in-arm with her father and step-father.”

“With the ceremony complete, there was time for drinks and formal photographs in front of Goosedale’s grand fireplace.”

“After a sumptuous meal, it was time for speeches.”

“The Best Men (Warren and Lee) were about to get underway with their speech, when one of their mobile phones rang.”

“They sprinted out the room, and as they ran, a secret backdrop which everyone had ignored fell-away to reveal a large screen TV. Rather than make a speech, the boys had made their own film!”

Hilarity ensued, and with the meal over, there was time for fun out on the dance floor.”

“As Sarah and Martyn’s first dance got underway, chairs were placed down the side of the dance floor, and friends and relatives formed their own Strictly Come Dancing-style judging panel, complete with score cards.”

“Although the heavy rain and strong winds prevented anyone from venturing outside, the weather didn’t stop any of the fun!”

“Sarah and Martyn are a great couple, and we thoroughly enjoyed capturing their very special day.”

Bride Sarah shares her Wedding Planning journey…

How did you get engaged?

“Martyn had planned to propose during a holiday to Mexico we had booked in September 2012 and had brought the ring a while in advance.”

“However in June we had been out to a show and dinner and when we got home he decided he couldn’t wait any longer, he came into the living room with his hands behind his back and was so nervous he couldn’t speak.”

“After a few minutes he asked me to marry him, I think I had answered before he finished asking!”

Tell us about your Wedding Planning journey

“We chose Goosedale Conference and Banqueting, Papplewick in Nottingham as our Venue.”

“We wanted a venue where we could host the whole day without having to move.”

“I wanted a venue that had some of the feelings of a church without being a church, Goosedales Crystal Hall has high ceilings, wooden beams, stone floors and exposed brick walls, all of this along with the huge fireplace and chandeliers made it perfect.”

“The Garden room that we used for the reception was the perfect size and had beautiful views out into its own private garden.”

“I’d describe the style of the day as classic and elegant, I didn’t want anything too over the top or fussy.”

“It was styled around my dress to make everything complement each other.”

“Martyn didn’t get much of a say over the colour theme, it was always going to be Cadbury Purple, luckily he was okay with this.”

“At night we wanted a party for everyone to let their hair down, we hired a photobooth to capture everyone having fun, Martyn was a bit worried that it wouldn’t get used a lot but from the moment it was set up to the night ending there were queues to get in!!”

“When looking for a dress I’d visited two bridal shops and tried on at least 15 dresses in a few different styles.”

“I had in my head that I wanted lace, not strapless, certainly not satin so most of the dresses I was trying on were based around this.”

“I’d found two dresses that I liked but neither of them had made me fall in love with them instantly and I was staring to wonder if finding “the one” was just a myth.”

“A few friends at work then told me about a dress shop in Retford that they travel past, that has wedding dresses on three floors of windows, all of them stunning, so I visited It’s Bliss at Retford and chose another 10 dresses to try.”

“This time my mum selected ones that I wouldn’t have tried before, the 3rd or 4th in I had found “the one” a Mori Lee ivory, satin strapless dress with a bubble hem.”

“It fitted like a glove, gave an amazing silhouette and made me feel very special, as soon as I walked out of the dressing room my mum looked at me and she knew that this was the one I was having, I never wanted to take it off.”

“I took time to search for each supplier to make sure I could get exactly what I had in mind for a reasonable price and with great service.”

“We used Figtree Invitations for our day invites, the service was efficient and we were kept up to date at all times, the quality of the end result was exceptional.”

“Our photographer was Mark Pugh, his style of photography suited us perfectly as we didn’t want an album full of posed shots, instead we got a stunning collection filled with relaxed people enjoying the day and not realising their picture was being taking.”

Make up By Jenni was my make up artist, I found her through an internet search and found her portfolio to be flawless, I had also noticed that some of the brides on her website had used Mark Pugh as their photographer so knew that her work photographed well.”

“On meeting Jenni, I found her to be easy to talk to, more like a friend just chatting to you but very knowledgeable and highly skilled.”

“My cake and cupcake favours were made by Martyn’s mum and sister Sophie who was also my bridesmaid, we went through the design together and then I left them to start making the large number of sugar paste roses needed.”

“The wedding car I used was my Dads Rolls Royce, he rang me one morning and asked if I wanted a Rolls Royce to take me to my wedding, if I did then he would buy one, do all the work on it to make it run and look perfect and he did, he had always wanted to own a car like that.”

“I made my place setting and table plan myself after not being able to find what I had in mind.”

I bought simple luggage tags for the place settings and decorated them with ribbon and crystals.”

“For the table plan i took inspiration from a design I had seen in a magazine and used a vintage frame, ribbon and different shades of purple card to recreate it, I like it so much that it is now hanging up in dining room.”

“My hairdresser was my friend Shelley, I wanted someone who knew me, my style and what suited me so she was perfect, also i don’t like hairdresser small talk so it was nice to have a friend with me on my wedding morning to do my hair instead.”

“We had a mini moon to Rome for four days after the wedding and spent the whole time taking in the culture and eating very good food.”

“Our main Honeymoon is in April 2014, we’re going to San Francisco and Hawaii, a holiday of a lifetime.”

“There was no way we could afford to pay for the wedding and the honeymoon in the same year, the slight delay gave us time to save more money and meant we could use the money we got as wedding gifts to pay for most of it.”

Any words of advice for future brides about planning your dream day?

“Do it your way, the way you want it, you cant plan a day for you while trying to please everyone else.”

“Let other family members have their input but if it doesn’t suit your vision, budget or style don’t be afraid to say no.”

“Once the day arrives, sit back and enjoy it, if you’ve put the work in before hand then it will all run smoothly.”

Would you recommend any of your suppliers or anyone else involved in your special day? if so, why?

“I would recommend all of my suppliers, we were very lucky to not have any hiccups in the run up to the day and I think that is mainly due to the experience and professionalism of the people involved.”

“Special mention though goes to Make up By Jenni, she made myself, mum and bridesmaids look flawless and feel amazing all day.”

“The staff at Goosedale, especially Melissa and Neil who took charge of the day, made sure everything went to plan and fulfilled each and every request of ours and our guests without a problem and also Mark Pugh Photography who has provided us with beautiful memories of the day that we can cherish forever.”

Thank you to Mark and Pam for sharing this stylish Nottingham Wedding, such beautiful complimenting cadbury purple styling throughout.

Also the couple have gone all out to ensure their celebrations were all about fun, and with fantastic film speeches, an awesome photobooth and some rocking tunes, they definetely pulled it out of the bag.

Also love how they have personalised their day with home made table plan, cake, cupcakes, and dads Rolls Royce and used the talent of family and friends for hairdressing and cake making.
