An incredible nautical theme wedding at the Crab and Lobster

Today I am excited to share this incredible nautical theme wedding at the very aptly named Crab and Lobster with a stunning navy meets brights colour scheme and lots of personal touches.

Images of the day were captured by Chris Thornton Photography.

Chris Thornton is a Leeds based wedding photographer & lifestyle photographer.

His aim is to make each photography session fun and relaxed and to keep images modern, fresh and funky. Shoots whether corporate, personal or Wedding will be informal and spontaneous.

He likes to capture events as they happen with smiles, laughs and even tears.

He says of himself and his work…

“I live with my lovely wife and amazing son. He’s our World and changed everything about.”

“I love what i do. It’s such a fantastic job to have and I hope this shows in my work.”

“It’s such a privilege to photograph important moments in people’s lives and share those important moments with them too.”

“I’ve met so many amazing people along my journey. I wouldn’t change it for anything.”

“As for a wee bit more about me, I love….Music (I used to play drums in a band), a cup of tea, my son, my wife and my family and friends.”

I hand over to gorgeous Bride Jenny…

Where did you meet ?

“We met at Dare Arts Cafe in Leeds on a sunny June evening.”

Tell us about the Proposal…

“Liam proposed in October 2013, in the kitchen it was so unexpected.

“He had to ask me twice as it didn’t register at first why he would buy me a ring the week before my Birthday.”

Tell us about your Wedding Planning journey…

“Our wedding venue The Crab and Lobster in Asenby was our main inspiration for our theme.”

“It has such eclectic decoration that we felt the theme was already created for us and we just wanted to emphasise their creativity with the place.”

“We both instantly loved the venue, Liam was sold with the one hole golf course and I fell in love with the Yeti!

“We chose the red and orange colour scheme to match the existing bunting in the pavilion where our reception was held and planned a subtle nautical theme with Navy to contrast the bright flowers.”

“We used shells and driftwood centre pieces.”

“This soon developed into a very nautical theme with our ‘sign the oar’ take on the guest book and my mum made our beach hut wedding cake!”

“We included elements that were really special to us, I had my favourite flower ‘bird of paradise’, Liam brought in two kegs of his favourite beer Saltaire Blonde from our local brewery.”

“Our wedding was as we wanted it be, a fun, relaxed and happy day with friends and family.”

What advice would you give to Couples getting married?

“Our advice would be to plan as much as you can up until the day, delegate jobs on the day to groomsmen and bridesmaids, take as much pressure away from yourselves as possible.”

“On the day relax and let other people take care of the details.”

What was your Favourite moment of the Wedding Day?

“It’s difficult to choose just one favourite moment I think we both smiled and laughed all day!”

“But the few brief times we did manage to spend together alone to reflect on the day were really special.”

Note: You may be wondering about Hugo, the  doll who makes an appearance. He was Jennys childhood toy that she took with her everywhere…

Thank you so much to Chris for sharing this fabulous nautical theme wedding.

The venue is incredible in itself with so much decor tied into it already.

I love how the couple have used amazing props to go more on theme such as the lobster creel as a Wedding Card collector and the oar as a frankly inspired guestbook.

The Wedding Cake by the Brides mum is a work of art and there are no words for the epic table plan, so colourful, so suited to the day.

Mention must also be made of Hugo and the Yeti who managed to photobomb quite a few of the photos.
