A Bit of a Whirl – Real Wedding Feature – Images by Gary Bonar Photography

Today I woud like to share the incredible imagery of Gary Bonar Photography, and the beautiful Wedding of Pete and Mhairi.

Gary currently lives in Glasgow, and most of his work is in the central belt of Scotland, however he will travel anywhere within reason. His style is a mixture of traditional and reportage, and he documents the day as it happens, trying not to alter the proceedings too much. He believes that candid shots are must for everyone’s wedding album, and he likes to believe that he achieves this in such a way that no one will ever remember having that great shot taken.

Gary says of the shoot which took place in the Summer, ” Pete & Mhairi were married at Loch Lomond Youth Hostel on a beautiful summers day.
The hostel was closed down to the public for the day just to host the wedding.  The building itself is something else, it stands alone on many acres with a view over the loch to die for.”

“Mhairi had been in contact all the way from Vancouver to see if I as available for her big day.”

“This always gives me great pride as I know that Mhairi had done a lot of research and had looked at numerous photographers. Mhairi who is originally from Scotland and Pete who is English emigrated to Canada a while back and had always known their wedding would naturally be held in the U.K.”

“The hostel looked great on the day and was decorated with gorgeous flowers arranged by the lovely Sophie Wilson.

“Mhairi didn’t go for the traditional white dress for her big day which was a nice wee change.  There are a few shots that I took in the garden in front of a lovely red coloured tree that really set Mhairi’s dress off.”

“I stayed late into the night for this wedding as I just love to photograph people have the time of their life, especially when lots had come from overseas and were getting right into the ceilidh dancing.”

Thank you so much to Gary for sharing this incredible day. It show such a sense of family and excitement and having such a great time. You can’t beat a great ceilidh.

I also really like the Brides beautiful dress,  quite unusual as a Bridal gown but it just works with an air of 60’s chic.
