Botanical Love – Scottish Wedding – Images by Shaun Ward Photography

Today I am thrilled to share the gorgeous Scottish Wedding of Nicola and Neil captured by Shaun Ward Photography on the 4th of August 2012.

Shaun Ward Photography is a Wedding, Commercial and Editorial photographers based in Perth, working throughout the UK.

The company is made up of Photographer Shaun Ward and Photo Assistant Amy Moncur. Working as a tight knit team they aim to produce professional and creative images for all their clients whether gorgeous Scottish Weddings or any other life or corporate event.

Shaun says “We met Nicola and Neil just over a year ago after we were recommended to them by a mutual friend.”

“Their Wedding was such a fun and relaxed wedding shoot for us. Nicola’s family were so welcoming from the off and it continued throughout the day as we were in the company of such a great, friendly group of people.”

“This will probably go down as one of our favourites as the Oran Mor and Botanic Gardens were such great venues to shoot in. Despite the downpour we experienced in the evening we did have time for myself and Amy to even break for an ice cream in the Botanic Gardens….An all round great wedding.”

Nicola, the Bride shares her Planning Journey,

“We had met on several occasions in the past but never really spoke to each other until a Christmas night out with mutual friends in Glasgow.  We both ended up at the same New Year party and were set up by Neil’s sister.”

“We got engaged on 1st April 2011 – and it wasn’t an April fool’s joke!! Neil very romantically had booked dinner and an overnight stay at Malmaison and it was here that he popped the question.”

“We were greatly supported by our parents throughout the wedding preparations and we knew that we wanted to get married in Bishopton as this is where I’m (Nicola) from.”

“Once that was decided and a date was set everything feel into place easily.  Neil fell in love with Oran Mor and luckily the 4th August was free.”

“Our flowers were done by a family friend who owns her own florist in Bishopton and the cake was also made by a family friend.  Choosing our band was an easy choice as it was one that we had heard at several of our friend’s weddings.

“The Andy Gordon Ceilidh Band are by far the most entertaining band we have heard at a wedding in a long time and they had everyone up dancing all night.”

“We were recommended Shaun Ward as our photographer  by Neil’s friend Tom Fincher who Shaun taught photography to at Perth College.  Shaun came down to visit us in Edinburgh to show us his portfolios and we understood why he had been recommended to us.  His work was beautiful. On the day we even forgot that Shaun was there.”

“As for my dress, I thought I would never find the ‘one’ until I went shopping with my mum in Edinburgh and went to Susan Gregory’s Bridal shop.  It was the last dress I tried one and it was perfect.  The staff were amazing and nothing was a problem.  Luckily my bridesmaid Bev found her dress in the same shop.”

What was the best bit of your day?

Neil said “Seeing Nicola walking down the aisle.  Closely followed by receiving a card signed by his all time favourite St. Johnstone players who our table names were named after.”

Nicola said  “Saying I do to my best friend and soul mate.”

What advice would you give to other Brides and Grooms ?

“Take a step back from your day and have a few quiet moments to yourselves.  The day is very over whelming and it is lovely to watch all your friends and family enjoying the day.”
