Today I would like to wish a very special lady and her leading man a wonderful 1st Anniversary.
I met Michelle in September 2009 at my very first Wedding fair and I always remembered her as an engaging and friendly lass with a megawatt smile, so I was delighted a few months later when she contacted me to enquire about On the Day Co -Ordination.
1 year ago today, Michelle and her lovely fiance David got married on a beautiful late Spring Day at Glenbervie House Hotel
With accents of midnight blue and butterflies as special touches, they wanted just a relaxed, laid back day, and for everyone to just have a really great time, and I was really proud to help them achieve that.
The beautiful imagery of the day was captured by Mark Timm Photography.
Since then life has been a bit of a rollercoaster.
In July 2011, just four weeks after her wedding she was diagnosed with cervical cancer.
The diagnosis came as a complete shock [ to all of us] however, she was very lucky to be diagnosed at an early stage and was able to have an experimental surgery that saved her life and fertility.
Jo’s is the only dedicated cervical cancer charity which provides information, support and assistance to cervical cancer patients or those concerned with smear results.
Michelle has herself already raised over £2000 [online and off], after her own fundraising activities led to her organising a walk around Strathclyde Park, near Glasgow on Sat 21st January. All participants were encouraged to wear pink pants over their trousers to draw attention to the event.
The event was primarily Cervical Cancer awareness raising but also to raise some much needed funds on the day.
I was also proud to support Jo’s Trust with half the proceeds from the Charity Raffle at the Big Fat Scottish Tweet Up on the 21st of March.
Michelle says, “I hope I manage to make cervical cancer more openly discussed and encourage all woman to attend regular smears.”
To re-iterate this I would encourage everyone to go and get checked, Micghelle was just 28 years old at diagnosis. We think it can’t happen to us but it can.
I am so thankful that Michelle’s treatment was successful and she has come through two all clears since, and she can look forward to a positive future.
Today I just want to share a wee bit of a visual reminder of their special day.
The rest of the Wedding imagery can be seen here in the Original Post.
