“For Once he was speechless” – Northumberland Coast Wedding – Images by Gary Bonar

Today I woud like to share the incredible Wedding of Mariam and Iain shot by the fabulous Gary Bonar at Newton Hall on the Northumberland Coast.

Gary is currently based in Glasgow, and most of his work is in the central belt of Scotland, however he will travel anywhere within reason.

His style is a mixture of traditional and reportage, and he documents the day as it happens, trying not to alter the proceedings too much. He believes that candid shots are must for everyone’s wedding album, and he likes to believe that he achieves this in such a way that no one will ever remember having that great shot taken.

Mariam the absolutely stunning Bride shares a few memories of her  and Iain’s elegant Big Day,

“We got married at Newton Hall in Northumberland, the most magical venue. Both the ceremony and reception were at this venue and we could not have asked for a more beautiful day.”

“Specialising in unique outdoor weddings, Newton Hall is a luxury hotel at the heart of Northumberland’s spectacular coastline, and something rare – a place of fun and fantasy, love and laughter and truly special for a Wedding.”

“Its just an hour north of Newcastle-upon-Tyne and 90 minutes south of Edinburgh. It  a quirky, rambling 18th Century Northumberland boutique Venue at the heart of what many consider to be England’s greatest stretch of natural coastline.”

“Our general theme was vintage, and the design of Newton Hall fitted this perfectly.”

“My cake was from M&S and I was told that it tasted delicious! Unfortunately I was too busy talking to get a taste myself!”

“I chose my dress after shopping at several shops in Edinburgh.  My dress was Pronovias and the lace bolero was made at Kavelle where I bought the gown, and I must admit I did feel beautiful.”

“Of course this was helped as I had my hair and makeup done in the morning at the hall as did my bridesmaids. I got both the makeup artist and hairdresser through Louise Lunn.

“With regards to flowers and room decor I used a company called ‘The Finishing Touch Company’.”

“Helen the florist exceeded my expectations as the flowers were stunning. The room was decorated by Charlotte who works for this company and again the room looked amazing. Very elegant and light. We chose ivory table linen against rustic wooden tables and chairs.”

“My favourite part of the day was seeing my husband to be’s reaction to me from the top of the aisle. For once he was speechless! I will cherish that forever.”

Thank you so much to Gary for sharing such beautiful images and to Mariam for sharing her special memories.

I think I am just a teeny bit in love with this Venue and its adaptabilty and originality, a truly wonderful place to be wed, and what a gown, Mariam looks stunning in Pronovias, not suprised that Iain was speechless.

And Iain doesn’t scrub up half bad either, a Wedding is made with a man in a Kilt.
