A Maggie Sottero Gown for a Greek Wedding In Santorini

Today I am delighted to share this elegant Greek Wedding in Santorini with a Maggie Sottero Gown and a hint of a green and pink theme.

On the 23rd of May, Jessica and Paul and 27 of their loved ones jetted off to Santorini to exchange vows against the idyllic backdrop at the Santorini Princess Hotel.

Images of the day were captured by Vangelis and this destination big day was co-ordnated by The Bridal Consultants.

The Bridal Consultant was formed in 2004 after Lisa’s own wedding was not exactly ‘planned to perfection’.

The whole experience left Lisa thinking there was certainly a market for a conscious and caring wedding planning company and from this The Bridal Consultant was born!

With over 1000 weddings planned in destinations such as Greece, New York, Cyprus, Turkey and Italy, they are one of the most experienced companies in the industry.

While they concentrate on quality not quantity; their time in the industry means there is very little that they have not seen or done and you can make the best of their vast knowledge to ensure your wedding is not left to chance.

Vangelis Bertzenitis is a Santorini Wedding Photographer specialising in Wedding Photography, honeymoon sessions, pre wedding photoshoots, individual and bridal portraits, and lifestyle photography.

He is based on Santorini but covers weddings around the other Greek Islands, mainland Greece and internationally.

I catch up with the Bride to find out all about their beautiful, intimate celebration…

Why did you choose to get married in Santorini, The Santorini Princess Hotel in particular?

“We chose to get married at The Santorini Princess because the views are just unbeatable.”

“The whole setting and atmosphere is completely stunning and after lots of research we decided it was the perfect backdrop and location for us.”

How long in advance did you book your wedding?

“We booked our wedding 2 years and 2 months in advance.”

How many guests did you invite to your wedding ?

“Our original wedding package size was for 30 so we invited our closest family and friends and 27 guests attended.”

“It was such a lovely number and as we were already on holiday with all the guests, I didn’t have to keep walking round the room to greet everyone, it felt very relaxed and intimate.”

Who was your Dress designer and how long did it take to find the perfect one?

“My dress was a Maggie Sottero Grecian style gown called ‘Reese.”

“It took a while to find it and it was completely different to what I originally wanted but my mum cried when I walked out of the dressing room and I instantly knew it was ‘the one”

Can you tell us about your shoes and accessories where were they from?

“My shoes were by Jenny Packham and my tiara was from Debenhams. I bought a few different hair pieces before I fell in love with my tiara.”

Where did the Groom find  his suit from, and why did he choose this look?

“Paul bought his suit from several different designer shops and wanted to look smart but fairly casual.”

“His suit jacket and shirt are from T M Lewin, his trousers are from Ralph Lauren and his shoes Kurt Geiger.”

What about the bridesmaid dresses? Where did you find them and what did you accessorise them with?

“I had 3 bridesmaids, my sister and my 2 best friends.”

“They wore long length Dessy dresses from a bridal shop called Casamiento.”

“The dresses were mint green chiffon with a sweetheart neckline.”

I accessorised them with dusky pink heels, pink rose and pearl wrist corsages and matching pearl necklaces.

Tell us about your bouquet…

“I chose a white rose and ivy bouquet as roses are my favourite flower and I just loved the simplicity of it.”

“Pauls buttonhole and our ceremony table flowers matched my bouquet perfectly.”

Did you theme your wedding?

“As well as the mint green and pink colour scheme our wedding theme was typically Grecian with a hint of soft vintage.”

Tell us about the small details, the menu, the cake the favours, decor and entertainment…

“The view of the caldera that we had from the private terrace was breathtaking so we kept our decorations simple with green chair sashes, floral centrepieces, scattered pearls and blush pink rose petals on the table.”

“After our sunset photoshoot and speeches we all sat down for an a la carte 3 course traditional Greek meal cooked by the Santorini Princess.”

“It was delicious and was presented beautifully.”

“We cut our wedding cake which was chocolate sponge with white icing decorated with a rose then everyone relaxed, had a dance and simply enjoyed the view.”

“The atmosphere was so relaxed, it all ended far too soon.”

How did you find the planning experience from booking to the big day?

“I loved it, it was completely stress free.! Lisa and the team took care of everything and answered all my questions (and there was lots of them).”

“Even on our wedding day, the planner in Santorini made sure everything ran smoothly. My bridesmaids were also amazing and helped me with lots of decisions.”

What’s your best memory from the day?

“I have so many different memories that are all equally as special. I loved spending the wedding morning in my hotel Jacuzzi with my maids and my mum drinking champagne.”

“I’ll never forget the look on my dads face when he walked into my hotel room and saw me in my dress.”

“We wrote our own vows which made the ceremony even more special and Pauls speech was amazing.

“Our photographer was the amazing Vangelis, he’s a photography genius and took us to a different location for some shots.”

“After our meal me and Paul took a walk onto the terrace on our own and looked out towards the sea to soak it all up, that’s the main memory I remember.”

What do you think makes a wedding abroad stand out from a wedding in the UK?

“Any wedding is special but there’s nothing more overwhelming than spending the biggest day of your life surrounded by your family and friends in a beautiful country.”

“The weather, the scenery and the relaxed, idyllic atmosphere just made it perfect.”

“So much planning goes into a wedding that it’s heartbreaking when the big day is over.”

“Our wedding was a full week celebration with our family and friends in the most breathtaking location imaginable.”

Ah thank you for sharing this gorgeous wedding Alison!

Jessica and Paul are from my home town in Rotherham so it was especially fun planning this wedding. Jessica was a delight from the word go, doing lots of research and attending local wedding fayres to get her ideas together. Even though she booked over 2 years in advance her colour scheme was decided right from the outset, she wanted ivory and green, very simple, stylish and in-keeping with the style and design of the hotel.

The couple were very laid back and relaxed in their wedding planning, a dream couple to be honest. I was delighted when they booked renowned photographer Vangelis to capture their day, his work is amazing and their wedding photographs really capture the beauty of their wedding day in gorgeous Santorini and it couldn’t have happened to a nicer couple! x
