The Melody of Life – Real Wedding Feature – Images by Mike Cook Photography

Today I am thrilled to present the stunning Wedding of Heather and Alastair captured in exquisite style by Mike Cook Photography.

Whilst based just outside Falkirk, Mike has undertaken photography throughout most of Central Scotland – Stirling, Edinburgh, Glasgow and beyond.
He describes his style as relaxed, contemporary and documentary.
He looks for opportunities for images in the unlikeliest of places, and doesn’t get phased by things like bad weather – his spin is it just makes for more
interesting photographs!

On a chilly day in the middle of November, Mike found himself at the wonderful splendour that is Oran Mor, bang in the heart of Glasgow’s West End.

He shares the story of the day and his outstanding images.

“We had a bit of a laugh at Alistair and Heather’s pre-wedding shoot back in September so I had a good feeling that it was going to be a great day…and
that’s exactly how it turned out.”

“As usual, my day started (after parking the car…not easy in Glasgow’s West End on a Saturday) with the bridal preparations, taking place at the Hilton hotel across the road.”

“I arrived to find hair and make-up just finishing up, so set about photographing the dress and other details . Done and
dusted, it was back over the road to photograph Alastair’s arrival before scuttling back to the Hilton to photograph Heather in the dress…phew, who says
this job doesn’t keep you fit!”

“Ceremonies can often be quite serious affairs and, of course, why shouldn’t they be as marriage is a very serious commitment. But I don’t think it hurts to
inject a bit of humour in at times and there was certainly enough of that today.
Looking at all the images of the ceremony that I shot, about half have someone laughing in them – great stuff…makes the images really “sing”.

“Winter weddings can sometimes be a challenge in terms of the light outside, or lack of it, once it gets past 3pm.”

“So, today, a few images aside, we’d decided to go for all the group and bride & groom shots indoors.”

“Oran Mor has a great spiral staircase which was too good an opportunity to pass up on – these are some of my favourite shots of the day…”

“Following the Wedding Breakfast, I stayed on until the first three of four dances in the evening – perfect for capturing the swinging first dance and more.”

“With that done,  I left everyone to enjoy the rest of their wonderful evening.”

Thanks to Mike once again for sharing his incredible work. I love the gorgeous applizue beading of the
bridal gown, gorgeous vibrant blooms with a Scottish touch with the thistles and the utterly breathtaking reception venue.. Oran Mor is just fabulous…and
the overwhelming feeling of happiness, everyone is just beaming and that can’t fail to make you grin.
