Today I am thrilled to share this gorgeous laid back DIY Garden Wedding with meadow flowers, a bonfire and song.
Images of the day were captured by Harvey & Harvey Photography.
Harvey & Harvey Photography are a Husband and wife team providing wedding and event photography across the east-midlands and beyond.
They say of their work…”We really enjoy our work and get to meet lots of amazing couples – we consider it a privilege to play a part in such a special day.”
“We are crazy about capturing emotion and natural moments and all the lovely details that go in to telling a beautiful wedding day story.”
They say of the couple….
“We met Jason and Rachel at church!”
“We have known Jason a little longer than Rachel and have had the pleasure of seeing their relationship blossom and bloom and have been really privileged to play a special part in their wedding.”
“They are an amazing couple with an infectious sense of humour.”
“We were very relieved when we saw Jason on the morning of the wedding as the day before he had been rushed in to hospital with a very nasty viral infection!”
“After being advised to cancel the wedding and honeymoon, the couple could only pray that all would be well.”
“Miraculously – the next day Jason was well and all went ahead! Phew!”
“The next obstacle was the torrential down pour that was going on a cross the UK and especially in the little village of Honington.”
“The preparations were going ahead and all the helpers were running in and out of the marquee dodging the rain!”
“As the wedding ceremony was taking place outside – again their only option was to pray for the rain to stop and again – miraculously – just moments before – it stopped and the sun came out!”
“Jason and Rachel are both wonderfully smiley and relaxed people inside and out and that shone through in all of their planning and details and the moments captured from the day.”
“From the blessing to the cutting of the cake, the rope swing, the couple shots at the fruit farm, the acoustic musicians, and the bale and bonfire party at the end of the evening – these two were a pleasure to photograph.”
“We had a wonderful time capturing them and their special moments with their friends and family and it was a real pleasure to tell their wedding day story for them.”
I now pass over to beautiful Bride Rachel…
How did you meet?
“We met in January 2013 when Jason joined The Lodge Trust where Rachel was already working.”
“We worked with adults with learning disabilities, and would cross over shifts sometimes.”
“We soon realised that we liked working more when we were working together.”
“We met up out of work – the first time was due to Rachel’s feeble ‘furniture carrying’ excuse, the next time was more romantic with a evening walk in the snow at Rutland Water.”
“Things progressed as we spent more time together, and depsite Rachel’s stubborn ‘I don’t want to be in a relationship’ attitude… love prevailed!”
When did you get engaged?
“In November 2013 (11 months after first meeting!) I knew I loved Rachel and decided that a holiday in Malta would be the perfect opportunity to propose.”
“On day 2, after a beautiful day exploring Valetta, we took a night time walk to a secluded beach to star gaze, it was here that I got down on one knee to propose, which was met with a happy ‘yes!’ (we then went to celebrate with a chocolate fudge cake sundae at 11pm!)”
Tell us about your wedding planning journey
“We got married in June 2014.”
“We did the ‘officials’ prior to our proper wedding celebration.”
“The wedding celebration day was the best day of our lives. We wanted a very relaxed day – no stress no rushing no formalities.”
“We spoke to some family friends who kindly let us use the garden/farmland of their old vicarage in Lincolnshire.”
“We hired a beautiful marquee and filled it with our favourite colours.”
“We were leant multitudes of pretty decorations and a family friend filled the marquee, garden and archway with meadow flowers.”
“A generous and talented family member made us a delicious chocolate wedding cake and everyone chipped in helping and contributing to our day.”
“Our ceremony and blessing was lead by a friend. The day was concluded with a bonfire in the garden with acoustic worship and prayer.”
What was the best bit of your day?
“The whole day was a dream come true. It was everything we wanted and more.”
“There was not one second we would change – or could choose as the best!”
“We loved that so many friends and family from all over the world could come together to celebrate. It was so humbling that people had come especially for us.”
What advice would you give to other couples getting married?
“Don’t feel pressured to do everything the way other people want it – or how tradition says you should have it.”
“Also, weddings don’t have to cost an arm and a leg.”
“Our wedding was perfect for us, and beautiful, there was nothing lacking and plenty of food for for everyone and yet we still spent less than £5000 for everything (Yes, including the dress!)”
