Today I am thrilled to share the beautiful Dorset Wedding of Fliss and Tom captured beautifully by Dorset Wedding Photographer Linus Moran
I love a splash of colour for Weddings and the tropical hues that flow through this gorgeous Big Day just scream summer of love.
Linus says of the couples day “Fliss & Tom’s Weymouth Wedding was a wedding with a difference.”
“Unlike many others it started as a ‘local’ wedding but then relocated and reconvened at Stockbridge Farm, near Sherbourne for the reception. It was quite a distance between the two points – about 30 minutes drive in fact!”
“The story is, that both Bride & groom were having trouble finding the ‘right’ reception venue, but when the viewed the Stockbridge farm barn, they just knew it was the place for them!”
“That decided, and timelines worked to allow for transporting all the guests, it did provide another unexpected attribute. We had such a choice of locations en route from which to choose from for our creative photography!!”
“I had made a few trips in the proceeding week and found a few real gems to try on the day. One being a sweet looking field of rapeseed and another location of Cerne Abbas, which has a great gatehouse from an ancient ransacked abbey.”
“Unusual and very distinctive – both locations shouted out loud and proud as being good possibilities for our creative Dorset Wedding Photography.”
“Come the day, both delivered – the field providing the punchy saturated colour of amassed yellow flowers and the Cerne Abbas ruin providing architectural interest and a welcome break in the day for Fliss & Tom to relax in the moment with some relaxed portraits.”
I hand over to Fliss so she can share her and Toms story,
How did you meet ?
“Tom and I met 9 years ago through mutual friends.”
When and how did you get engaged?
“Tom proposed to me while we were in holiday in Thailand after a romantic day out traveling to different islands on a speed boat.”
“That evening we went out for a nice dinner and when we got back to the hotel room Tom popped the question.”
Tell us about your Planning Journey
“Tom and I were engaged for 2 years before we started planning!”
“We did originally agree to get married in 2014 and after several family members taken ill we decided to bring it foward a year to 2013 !”
“This was great news as it gave all the family and friends something to look forward to and everyone was able to be with us on our special day.”
“It gave those that had been unwell something to aim towards and look forward to it was great.”
“We looked at a lot of different Venues but we was looking for something that bit different that you could put our own stamp on , and that we did.”
When was the wedding date?
“We got married on Saturday May 4th 2013.”
What was the best bit of the day
“For me there isn’t one bit if the day that was any better than another as for me the whole day was just magical having all the important people in our life’s to celebrate the whole day with us was just great!”
“We loved that we could look around the room and see everyone just enjoying themselves.”
What advice would we give other bride and grooms?
“I would say to try and enjoy the planning of your big day as much as possible and try to involve as much people as you can to help you along the way!
“I would also say to take as much time as poss on your big day to just stand back and take a look around and take in as much as possible as the day goes so so quickly.”
Thank you to Linus and Fliss and Tom for sharing their memories of a stunning celebration.
Wedding Cars – RR Elite – Fantastic wedding car company that we used with a fab driver that made the experience fantastic the whole time we were using the car!
We had a rolls Royce phantom 1929 . They had so many lovely cars to choose from but as soon as I had seen that one I loved it.
Florist – P&M Read Forest – Becky who worked there was really helpful and made the planning very much enjoyable as out colour theme was very different.
We wanted to use the flowers to have at the reception as a specific look and the pink and orange theme really come alive by using the flowers .
The 6 bridesmaids have lovely bunches of pink and orange flowers with diamanté studs in the centre of the flowers!
Wedding Dress – Butterfly Brides, Dorchester.
Entertainment – Wizard bar & disco – They were incredible.
They set up the most amazing looking bar that was all lit up and really looked the part!
Candy Buffet – Cilias sweet cart – A massive hit with both adults and children alike !
Photo booth and video booth – Photo point ltd – They were fantastic.
Chloe and Tom (Duo) performed through out the day for us on and off they was a real hit for everyone to listen too before the evening entertainment started.
Photographer – Linus Moran – Best photographer we could have asked for ! He captured every bit of our day from start to finish. !
So many amazing pictures were captured without people even noticing that he was around them ! That makes them more special to us as they are natural and moments captured they wouldn’t even know about!
We met Linus a couple of times before the wedding to go through what we wanted and what we didn’t want ! We felt at ease with him and nothing was ever to much trouble.
