Urban,Wonderland Chic – Real Wedding Feature – Lynsey and Carl – Images by Toast of Leeds

Today I am thrilled to share the stunning Urban Wedding day of Lynsey and Carl that is sprinkled with a hint of Wonderland chic. Images of the day were captured by the fabulous Shelley of Toast of Leeds.

Shelly Mantovani is  Leeds based Wedding Photographer but covers the whole of the U.K. She says of her work,

“I love light and shadow, art and music, films and books.  I’m passionate about great design, fabulous architecture and mother nature. I love my camera and my prime lenses and I love to relive all the weddings I shoot with teary brides and chuffed to bits grooms.”

This passion for her craft is evident in the incredible images that Shelly takes, and these particular images just jump off the page …

Shelly says of the couples Big Day,

“Lynsey and Carl left it a little late in the day to book me for their wedding which meant squeezing in their pre-wed shoot pretty swiftly. But I knew they were my kinda people as
soon as they started mentioning their love of film and music. In fact we did their pre-wed shoot at a proper old fashioned cinema in Headingley Leeds.”

“The Cottage Road Cinema is the kind of place where they still have an old fashioned projector room (plus a crazy spiral staircase to get up to it!) and a lady who
sells sweets and ice-cream in the interval. It’s a joy!”

“Their wedding was the kind of laid back affair I love – although I have to say the kids Alice in Wonderland table got me all excited.
Plus they used Coen Brothers movies for their table names. Absolutely glorious.”

“Lynsey’s handiwork on the order of service was absolutely brilliant. Lynsey and Carl are so much fun and as down to earth as it gets. It was an absolute
pleasure to photograph them and be part of their big day.”

To get a feel for the day, I also asked Lynsey, the Bride,  some questions…

How did you meet?

“We met whilst working for O2, Carl chatted me up at a works Christmas party using some line from The Big Lebowski.”

When, and how did you get engaged?

We got engaged in September 2009 in Paris. He asked and I said YEY!”

Tell me about your Planning journey.

“Carl and I have 3 children so we had a budget we wanted to stick to. As a graphic designer I did all my own table plans, invitations, menus, order of service etc which helped, I even did my own cup cakes and caketoppers!”

“We wanted something relaxed something informal and a day that reflected our out look as a couple, yet I wanted to get married in church!  I stayed clear
of wedding fairs and magazines to keep it real. I also wanted Matt Belmont to sing as we had been to some great acoustic sets he had played at in Leeds,”

“We also wanted sweets, lots of sweets and everything else just flowed. We started arranging and got married within 4 months.”

When was your Wedding Date?

“We got married on Saturday 15th October 2011 and the weather was glorious, and our Reception was at the Mint Hotel, Leeds!”

What wedding suppliers did you use?

“We didn’t really have any Wedding suppliers as such  except for Shelly at Toast photography who I might add was amazing, my dress was from Damsel in a Dress (off the peg and ordered online) and my headband was a company called Liberty in Love.

Any last words…

“It was just simply perfect….”

There are so many words that could express how pretty this wedding is, but I will use just one…AWESOME.

Its full of colour, full of zing, full of family togetherness and just a special happy day.

Thank you so much to Toast of Leeds for sharing her incredible images.
