A glorious rainbow inspired wedding shoot with elements of bicycles and animal magic

Today I am excited to share this glorious rainbow inspired wedding shoot with elements of bicycles and animal magic.

Images were captured by Holly Cade Photography with co-ordination by Karen Dornellie.

Karen says of he shoot…

The shoot began as an idea from Holly Cade the photographer to include cute animals and a bicycle in a rainbow inspired wedding styled shoot.

Most people would be boggled at such a theme but I could see the magic that it could create.

We had planned to execute the shoot at a local spot but last minute it sadly fell through so a last minute replacement was required and the quick witted florist, Suzi Bardsley had a plan B.

We were so lucky that a friend had a wonderful isolated field in a beautiful area of the Isle of Wight.

Currently used for holiday accommodation the plan is to expand into allowing wedding parties on the field.

Already there was a groovy tent complete with bright cushion interiors and so much space any wedding day would be amazing.  It was the perfect blank space.

The theme we kept, but it developed slightly. A very friendly pony and beautiful Alsatian became our animal buddies and the bicycle became a pimped up rickshaw.

This unique mode of transport was ideal to ferry the brides around the field.

I originally wanted to have a subtle rainbow colour scheme but I found a vibrant organza and fell in love.

We were blessed with a brilliant sunny day with a terrific breeze which was brilliant for creating some stunning veil action.

We had an amazing day despite a last minute change and may have even turned out 100% times better than the original plan.

With incredible local island based wedding professionals we created a beautiful wedding space which we hope will inspire future brides to consider for their big day complete with their furry friends.

I hand over to some of the other vendors to share their involvement in creating some rainbow magic…

The Photography – Holly Cade Photography

There were three main things I wanted this rainbow inspired wedding shoot to be: vibrant, colourful and fun, definitely a “no pouting” zone, so lots of movement and freedom to laugh and relax.

So you can imagine I was relieved the sun was out that day, I feel it definitely added to that lighthearted freedom-like aesthetic we all wanted for this shoot.

There was lots of chatting in between shots and throwing ideas around which I am always up for.

As a Photographer who loves colour and is not afraid to keep the colours strong in my editing, this shoot was heaven!

The two models were fantastic and not afraid to go with the flow and embrace the vibrant vibe of the shoot, which I absolutely loved and was a joy to photograph.

I designed 2 outfits.

Claire wore a swishy georgette skirt with a rainbow organza pleated blouse with floaty sleeves.

The other bride, Daina, wore a pair of wide legged trousers (with pockets of course), a georgette cowl blouse and a hand stencilled faux leather jacket.

I added a rainbow organza veil with pleated edged veil to add a dramatic finish.

To ensure a safe and comfy day underfoot, both brides wore wedding wellies with an additional rainbow ribbon bow. Clare wore the high leg and Daina the cute shorty ones.

Hair stylingCharlotte Back

My inspiration in creating the hairstyles for this shoot came from the lovely outfits that the models were wearing .

Claire was wearing a soft flowing dress and a flower ring in her hair so I created loose curls to complement these.

Daina was wearing a trouser suit and a long rainbow veil .she had long dreadlocks already so I decided to put the hair up so that the dreadlocks didn’t distract the eye from the long veil,I  added height to the front of the hairstyle and flattened the sides to give her a modern edgy twist .

I thought both of the styles complimented each other ,although they were very different.

The rainbow vibe of the bridal outfits called for something a little more unconventional when it came to the brides’ make up.

I took my inspiration for both looks from the bright colours of the fabrics, picking out the more dominant colours from each bride’s attire to create their eye make up looks.

We had a fabulous time on this shoot with some amazing people on our first proper photo shoot and it was a great pleasure to take part in such a professional but fun day

The main inspiration for our flowers was colour, fun and animals

We created 2 beautiful hand tied designs using the egg method to create movement throughout our bouquets

The bouquets were a real mix of colours and flowers made up of Protea, Spray roses, Hydrangea, Germini, Delphiniums, Thistle, Piccadilly Circus roses, Celosia and Kangaroo paw

We also made a head dress using the traditional wired method with training rainbow ribbons.

We created some beautiful jewellery for a couple of animals which was a bit tricky as we were unsure of the animals size so involved a bit of guess work this included Tam the horse who was so well behaved.

We used a cold glue method on these as wire would of been to dangerous just in case the animals decided to try and eat them.

All in all it was an absolutely amazing shoot with lots of colour fun and laughter.

CakeThe Cakesmith

I was so excited I was asked to be a part of this rainbow inspired wedding photoshoot.

As soon as I found out the theme I knew I had to use balloons and a topper from ‘Cake Topper Animals’.

I’m personally a fan of doing things that aren’t particularly traditional and love to make everything fun and different.

I wanted to keep the actual cake quite simple in design as the flamingo toppers and balloons were the stars of the show!

RickshawGordys Wood Co

Gordy is known for making one of a kind keepsakes from Ryde Pier wood, however he has a new focus to make your wedding day unique.

The wedding rickshaw has been restored to an incredibly high standard and is the only type on the island, and it is sure to leave you with lasting memories of your big day.

Customisable to your colour scheme, obviously we used the brightest rainbow colours for the shoot, and complete with a wedding hamper, this beautiful rickshaw is the perfect addition to your wedding day.

Whether its transport around a field or between venues or just for photos at your reception, the rickshaw will give your wedding that little romantic difference.

NailsS J Nails and Beauty

When Karen asked me if I wanted to be part of the team for a non traditional photoshoot I jumped at the chance to be able to show off my nail skills and creativity.

Myself and the models got together for a chat about what nails styles they liked from the little brief we got from Karen as she didn’t want to spoil the surprise of the amazing outfits she had chosen.

The models both liked the ideas of bright, rainbow, neon styles with the designs complementing both outfits and models.
