“A Wight Wedding” ~ A Winter Wedding Inspired styled shoot on the Isle of Wight

Today I am thrilled to share this pretty Winter Wedding Inspired styled shoot on the Isle of Wight at the beautiful Spinnaker Hotel.

Images were captured by Holly Cade Photography, and the shoot was brought together by Karen at Dornellie with a wonderful collaborative team.

Karen shares her recollections of the day…

“The Spinnaker is a newly refurbished hotel and dining venue in Bembridge on the Isle of Wight and it was here my wedding collaborators and I concocted a plan for a beautiful photo shoot using the amazing backdrops for a winter wedding inspired shoot.”

“Using the knooks and crannies around stunning fireplaces with comfy luxurious chairs and a sweeping staircase we decided on a traditional winter but not Christmassy colour scheme of red and white with a touch of gingham.”

“Using natural woods and berries the design came to life and made everyone think of snug winter days.”

“The weather outside helped as it poured all day.”

“All that was missing was the mulled wine but the thought of eating the delicious cake after the shoot was finished kept us all going.”

Each vendor shares the part they had to play to bring the shot to life…

Bridal separates and veils ~ Karen Dornellie

“I had wanted to make some separates ideal for a winter bride and had been wanting to use smooth fur for a simple but stunning jacket for ages.”

“I decide to team it with a floaty tulle skirt and edged all of it with a gorgeous sequin and beaded trim for a hint of glamour.”

“I also had a few new veil designs I wanted photographed so this was an idea opportunity.”

“Thee were white with silver and sparkle for my Starshine range.”

Photography ~ Holly Cade Photography

“With this being a winter themed wedding shoot, I wanted there to be an almost warm glow to the photos, maybe with the look of it being shot on film, which I think makes the whole thing look that much more cosy and intimate.”

“The darks of the wood and the grandness of the Spinnaker adds to the colour scheme so wonderfully.”

Table and venue dressing ~ Personalize Event Decoration

“The Spinnaker is a perfect venue for any event and any wedding held here would be intimate and cosy especially for a winter wedding theme.”

“We dressed the stunning staircase with ivy and white roses and dressed the table using winter berries, red and white gingham napkins, wooden table numbers and lots of pine cones and apples.”

“We created a table plan with a red and white theme and continued that for the place names tucked cutely into the pine cones.”

Make Up ~ Jo Lofthouse

“Hannah’s make up was inspired by the current trends and colours of this season.”

“Flawless velvet skin was created with HD airbrush foundation and teamed with vintage metallics and winter smokiness on the eyes.”

“A rosy natural flush was given to the cheeks with liquid blush and the look was finished with a rich, matte, burgundy lip to create timeless elegance.”

Hairstyling ~ Gems Bridal Hair Boutique

“My inspiration came from how I picture a winter wedding.”

“When I think of a winter wedding, 1940s always springs to mind and so this is why I went for a chignon type hair style.”

“It’s classy and elegant and I thought it fitted in just right with the makeup style and look we were going for.”

Shoes ~ Marsha Hall Handmade Shoes

“The sumptuous velvet ankle boots depict the rich reds of winter berries with an elegantly slim heel to give glamour and elegance.”

“Whilst giving a romantic feel with hand painted miniature faux roses.”

Bouquet, buttonhole and floral arrangementsSarah Matthews Flowers

“As roses are an ever popular choice for bridal blooms, we chose to showcase the luxurious and beautifully perfumed red Naomi rose in this winter shoot.”

“They were complimented by ruby red Germini.”

“Texture came from the addition of papery Scabious seed heads, feathery Astilbe fronds as well as scarlet Hypericum berries.”

“Our natural tied design was completed with trails of deep green asparagus fern to soften the look.”

Nail Art ~ SJ Nails and Beauty

“I took inspiration from the fabulous boots and the gorgeous flowers and incorporated the colours into the look.”

“It was lovely to be a part of the shoot as the brides hands and nails do get forgotten about in all the excitement of planning the big day. and when the photographer takes a photo of the wedding bands it’s nice to see the well manicured nails in the photos.”

Cake ~ Frostbite Bakery

“This cake needed to reflect the time of year and I felt a ‘naked’ cake would show off the winter berries and flowers off to perfection.”

“The dusting of icing sugar reminiscent of the snow to make a winter wedding wonderful.”

“I like telling stories, and one of the challenges at a shoot like this is that it’s rarely ever set up for video and a story might be hard to find.”

“However as I spent time in The Spinnaker, saw the bridal suites and the atmosphere all the other suppliers had created.”

“The simple, age old story of a bride and groom getting ready to meet each other on their big day presented itself.”

“And having recently watched Suffragette, a bit of cheeky role reversal made me smile.”

VenueThe Spinnaker

“Watching our Winter Wedding themed shoot unfold before our eyes was truly amazing, the smallest of detail whether its on a cake or even on your table can transform and create the theme you were looking for.”

“It was lovely to see the red check and wood being used on the tables.”

“The Naked cake looked perfect and fitted in wonderfully with our theming.”

“Our hotel is located in a chic and charming location of Bembridge and has been beautifully restored with our beautiful bedrooms, wooden staircase and fireplaces.”

“It is the perfect location for a Winter Wedding.”

Thank you so much to the team for sharing this beautiful Winter Wedding styled shoot.

I love the warmth of the images, and the rich vibrant colours.

Rich reds are so pretty for winter weddings and this has been brought through in the floristry, table and personal accessories and the beauty styling

The naked cake is exceptionally pretty and looks scrumptious, and the flowers and berries complete the look.

And those shoes…. exquisite!
