Whether you are on the hunt for some urban wedding inspiration, looking for ideas to suit a Rockabilly wedding theme or rainbow wedding colour scheme, or just wanting to see how you can incorporate your own unique style as a couple then these amazing wedding ideas are just right for you.
Images were captured by Rhiannon Neale with the collaboration of a fabulous creative team.
These days more and more couples are turning away from the uber- traditional wedding and planning the kind of day that really show off who they are, whether it’s quirky details, unique style, a one of a kind venue or all of the above.
Wherever your inspiration comes from. it all comes down to what is right for you, and not anyone elses opinion about what is best, or coolest, or defining.
You just have to be your own brand of Special!
Our shoot setting was Saint Luke’s and The Winged Ox which is just SUCH a cool venue, and the surrounding area (East End of Glasgow) is full of neat architecture, vintage signage and a retro atmosphere.
It shows off a totally different backdrop of Glasgow that we don’t often see and it’s on of my favourite areas of the city both to explore and to shoot in.
This converted church turned live music & event venue has all the character of a beautiful historic building, but with a quirky, modern vibe.
We are a group of suppliers who love to work with couples who plan their day their own way, and it was the perfect place to inspire us to create this fun shoot.
Incredible floral design came from the talented Amanda of The Floral Design Boutique who created a cute & quirky rainbow bridal bouquet, working gorgeous colourful ribbons and greenery into her designs, adding a personalised touch..
The creative David of Bottled Love designed a full set of one of a kind stationery for our shoot, with some really neat retro inspired ideas.
Next up was our cake, designed by the fabulous Louise of Louise Barrie Cakes.
Amazingly, Louise & David never spoke to each other about the specifics of their designs, ended up with perfectly matched design.
Venue Dressers Make Believe Events created some inspired table setups in different styles to show just how unique your decor can be, depending on what you’re looking for.
We chose a real couple to act as our models for this shoot, because let’s face it: intimacy like this just can’t be faked.
It was important that our ‘bride’ and ‘groom’ had a real connection. Katie & Robert made the perfect pair, very obviously in love and laughing and smiling their way through the day and keeping things light and fun as we wandered through The Barras and the East End of Glasgow.
Stunning as these two are, where would we be without a hair & makeup artist? Jenna Clayton enhanced the couple’s natural style with and edgy look and a vintage vibe – perfect for our Rockabilly theme!
The creative and crafty Lisa of Dragonfly Dress Design created not one, but two one of a kind custom gowns to suit our theme, and even decorated a leather jacket to add another unique touch!
This was alongside our Groom in a sharp custom designed and tailored suit made by Alan at Ten 30 Fashion.
Photography was by myself, Rhiannon Neale, and for me photography has always been about capturing real, honest interactions and that’s why I prefer to work with real couples rather than traditional models. (In this case, our real couple also moonlight as alternative models – but most important they are two people very much in love!)
