Artisan Wedding Cheese Towers from the Cheese Yard Knutsford

Whether used as a lovely savoury alternative to traditional wedding cake, or as a flavoursome substitute for dessert, Wedding Cheese towers have become increasingly popular in recent times.

The Cheese Yard in Knutsford, Cheshire is a foodies nirvana stocking a myriad of artisan cheeses to delight the palette and I am delighted to spotlight on the brand today.

I introduce Sarah Peak to tell us about her Business…

Who are you, and what do you do?

Hi, I’m Sarah, owner of The Cheese Yard Knutsford, an independent speciality cheese shop & cafe.

We are proud to be known as Cheshire’s No.1 Cheese Boutique.

Additionally we offer unique cheese towers (also know as cheese cakes) for weddings.

When and why did you start your Company?

I started the company 4 years ago after 20 years experience in the food industry working for retailers and manufacturers in roles in marketing and buying.

My favourite job however was as a cheese buyer and I’ve worked and travelled throughout the UK & Ireland and also  visited numerous other countries sourcing suppliers,  and fact finding, to find the best cheese.

What inspires you?

Food inspires me!

I love places in London such as Borough market, Neal’s Yard Dairy, Fine Cheese company and Edinburgh where in Stockbridge they have many cheese shops in one small area which is brilliant.

Our holidays (mine and my husband Simon) are always based around places with wonderful cultures and fantastic foods such as the amazing markets in Provence where shoppers buy locally made cheeses from weekly markets and of course fresh bread every day from the boulangerie.

San Sebastian in Spain where delicious pinchos are on every corner is also a favourite where they make stunning Monte Enebro goat’s cheese.

Last year we went to Rome and Puglia for our vacation, and enjoyed burrata at its freshest.

What is your greatest achievement?

Opening my own business has undoubtedly been my career highlight.

It is lovely too to get wedding photos of customers with our cheese cakes showing how fabulous they looked on their special day and seeing the impact we have had on these important moments in their lives.

What do you see as the future of your Company?

I hope to see more happy customers buying wedding cheese cakes from us nationwide.
