Today I am thrilled to spotlight on the contemporary luxurious headpieces and bridal accessories of Fifth & Spring.
The Brand creates special occasion and bridal designs combining soft brass and silk flowers along with pastel and sparkling crystals.
I hand you over to Louise Tomblin Powell to tell you all about this blossoming brand…
Who are you, and what do you do?
Hello! We are Fifth and Spring. We create beautiful bridal headpieces, jewellery and accessories.
Each piece is designed and lovingly hand-made in our workshop in rural Warwickshire.
We have a gorgeous ready to wear collection and we also love to work with Brides to create
bespoke designs for their special day.
When and why did you start your Company?
When I finally said Yes!
Last year and found my perfect wedding dress, I searched high and low but couldn’t find a headpiece that suited my style.
Everything seemed to look the same. I didn’t want to buy and wear something on my big day that I
didn’t love, so I sketched out a design and created my own bespoke headpiece.
I was asked so many times where the headpiece was from that I created a collection and Fifth and Spring was born.
Why Fifth and Spring?
Well, Fifth Avenue and Spring Street, Manhattan, New York is a special place full of very happy memories of exciting fashion buying trips and fun cocktail-fuelled girlie holidays with my little sister and very much missed mum.
It’s also where I found my wedding dress, so Fifth and Spring is a special place where many wonderful memories are made.
I want to be part of creating even more happy memories for other brides.
What inspires you?
I’m very fortunate to have travelled the world with my career in fashion and design, and have
collected colourful fabrics and beautiful beads, trinkets and jewellery from which I draw my
inspiration and ideas for my collections.
The summer 2016 collection is based on a wild flower garden, with bridal halos, hair vines
and bandeaus decorated with petite blooms and delicately ornate charms.
Each piece is easy to wear and has a contemporary and luxurious feel
that will appeal to brides with a strong individual sense of style.
Do trends influence your work?
Tiaras, halos and bandeaus are a very strong trend for Summer 2016.
Miu Miu, Valentino, Dolce & Gabbana and Saint Laurent all featured headpieces in their runway collections.
I’m always sharing new images on Instagram, Pinterest and Twitter to show brides how they can
be inspired by designers while adding in elements that are completely personal to them.
A well-designed headpiece gives the perfect finishing touch to any bridal look.
So many close-up images from the wedding day don’t show the wedding dress, yet the headpiece can
be seen on every one, so it’s important to get it right.
What is your greatest achievement?
I’m incredibly proud to be designing and creating hand-made accessories in the UK.
It’s something that I have always dreamed of doing.
Each piece starts with a sketch and a mood board, and then I take time to source beautiful
materials to bring the design to life.
Whether I’m sending a piece from the ready-to-wear collection to a bride to be or creating a
bespoke headpiece for a wedding, honeymoon getaway or an engagement celebration, I
feel immense pride in having played a part in their big day.
What do you see as the future of your Company?
I love creating wonderful memories and keepsakes for brides to be, but I know that brides
like to make sure their girls look incredible too –so I have also created a collection of
accessories for bridesmaids, flower girls and mothers of the bride.
The bespoke service is something that the whole party can enjoy to create a look that is unique to their wedding.
Each season we will offer brand new pieces and lots more gorgeous halos, bandeaus, hair vines and jewellery to choose from using beautifully sourced beads, charms flowers and crystals.
Thank you so much to Louise for sharing her beautiful headpieces.
I love the delicacy yet powerful style statement of the designs, so pretty!
