“Effortless Chic” – Supplier Spotlight – Belle and Bunty

Today I am thrilled to spotlight on Belle and Bunty, the cult London Womanswear Label.

From beginnings in ladies couture they branched into the Bridal World in 2010, and their gowns ooze femininity, understated elegance and simplistic glamour….

I had a wee chat with the Ladies about their wonderful Business,

Who are you, and what do you do?

We are Alice Shreeve & Hannah Coniam~Thompson, the designers behind the Belle & Bunty label.

“Belle & Bunty is the cult London based Womenswear label appearing regularly in the pages of the fashion press and loved by celebrities including Victoria Beckham, Diana Vickers, Fearne Cotton, Myleene Klass, Amanda Holden, Lauren Laverne and Christine Bleakley amongst others.”

“Our style is feminine, flirty and wearable and we specialise in unique use of colour and unique prints which we also design ourselves.”

Why, and when did you start your Business ?

We met at university where we realised we had complimentary styles and so discussed creating our own label together.

So after graduating and gaining experience working with other brands such as Paul Smith, Tracey Boyd and Pepe Jeans we started working on Belle & Bunty and launched our first Ready-to-Wear collection as part of London Fashion Week in September 2003.”

Belle & Bunty Bridal launched at the end of 2010 with key best-selling style, The Willow from the Ready-to-Wear Collection as well as our own wedding dress styles ~ The Belle and The Bunty”

What inspires you ?

We are both magpies and regularly collect imagery, trims, fabrics and other bits from our day to day lives. Anything and everything can be inspiring! It could be a film, photo, song or seeing someone wearing something interesting in the street.”

What trends do you see coming through and does this influence your work ?

“Being in the fashion industry, living in London and socialising with lots of creatives we are always surrounded by inspiring things so are aware of trends before they come into the mainstream.

“Therefore subconsciously things filter into our ranges but without the conscious effort to make things “On Trend”.

“For bridal we are happy using our Belle & Bunty feminine handwriting to create the range and so are not actively following bridal trends.”

“Our Belle & Bunty Bridal collection is perfect for ladies wanting something less traditional on their big day,  that is fashion conscious and modern. Each bridal gown has an elegance and effortless glamour with a slight nod to vintage whilst being relevant to the modern woman.”

What is your favourite design, and why ?

We would have to say our own wedding dress designs – The Belle and the Bunty. These were styles created together for each other and there was a lot of blood, sweat and tears that went into those styles, but we LOVE them!”

What’s your greatest Achievement?

“There have been lots of the years, like opening our boutique, appearing in our own Channel 4 TV show, appearing in Vogue for the first time or seeing celebrities on the Red Carpet in our designs but growing our business over the past 8 years, especially over the past tough few years and creating a successful business is overall the greatest so far.”

What do you see as the future of your Business ?

“We are working on a Special Eveningwear line to sit alongside the Bridal, aswell as adding in new bridal styles to our collection so we hope to keep gradually growing the business as well as looking at further retail boutiques and more wholesale stockists.”

Thanks to Alice and Hannah for sharing their stunning Collection. I particulary covet the striking simplicity of the Petal and the swoonworthiness of the Lace willow, modern yet with a touch of Vintage in the gorgeous lace sleeves…Just breathtaking, and effortlessly chic.
