Animac Designs creates quirky and unusual handmade, bespoke wedding stationery, cards and jewellery and is based on the Isle of Bute and Glasgow.
I spoke to Annie McAllister about the new collaboration…
All of your invitations are handmade, so why do a range of Graphic Wedding Invitations?
“I wanted to add to our bespoke invitation service and to give couples who are looking for something different but who don’t want a lot of design input, a stunning invitation range that they can order completely online.”
Can you tell me more about them?
“The Graphic Invitations are luxury postcard-style invitations incorporating one of Ruth’s breath-taking sketches which have been specially commissioned by us.”
“They are printed on a beautifully heavyweight card, edged in red.”
“We have kept them bespoke insofar as the choice of wording on the back is completely up to the couple.”
“We are, of course, happy to make suggestions on wording but couples can have exactly what they want on the reverse of the card (as formal or informal as they wish), and can choose from a selection of specially chosen fonts.”
Why Ruth Slater?
“Ruth is simply an incredibly talented artist.”
“I have long-admired her work – from her acrylic and mixed media, to her sketch and portrait work – and her Wire Work technique has been a firm favourite of mine.”
“The style compliments AniMac perfectly – simple, quirky and different – and Ruth has an amazing ability to capture the very essence of a moment in her Wirework.”
“I just knew that she would come up with some very special designs.”
How did the collaboration happen?
“We are both members of the Isle of Bute Artists Collective and after taking part in my first Bute Studio Trail last year, I started to become more involved with the group, of which Ruth is a co-chair.”
“I explained my ideas and asked for three sketches: a bride/groom; a groom/groom; and a bride/bride.”
“The first design she submitted – Enchantment – just blew me away!”
“It is stunning. Ruth then went on to produce so many designs that I couldn’t choose between them, so I took them all!”
“These designs now comprise the AniMac Graphic Invitations range.”
When will the range be available to buy online?
“It’s available now! The Graphic Wedding Invitations range has just been launched.”
“Couples will be able to see it in person at the Glasgow Girls Wedding Fayre at Pollokshields Burgh Hall on 7th September 2014.
“And also at the Bute Open Studio Trail on 27/28th September 2014 in Bute (by following the trail, they will be able to meet both myself and Ruth at our respective studios).”
Do you have any plans to add to the Graphic Invitation range?
“Absolutely! Ruth Slater is an inspiring artist and is constantly coming up with new ideas, so I’m certain that the range will continue to grow.”
“We are also finalising some exciting new products for brides and bridesmaids which we will be launched at our live events in September. We’ll keep you posted!”
How would you sum up the range?
“AniMac Graphic Invitations bring the very best in contemporary art to wedding invitations.”
Thank you so much to Annie for sharing her new Graphic Wedding Invitations.
The simplicity yet boldness of the sketches is refreshing.
