Today I am thrilled to introduce you to The Great British Wedding or GBW, an all encompassing Wedding planning website for all couples planning their wedding with articles, advice from guest industry experts, real life weddings, wedding news and an online marketplace.
They believe British products should be reasonably priced and easy to find.
They also believe that every couple is unique and special; and that’s why they created their site.
The Great British Wedding is simple to navigate and specifically designed to help all couples plan their big day here in Great Britain.
I had a chat to Alex Boucher to find out all about GBW.
Who are you, and what do you do?
“I’m Alex from The Great British Wedding, and we are a new one-stop wedding planning website for every couple planning their big day here.”
“We have a supplier directory (and from next month a venues directory), and have a store and stationery marketplace selling handmade items made by fabulous companies right here in Britain.”
“We also have an ‘all about weddings’ section, where you can catch up with the latest wedding related news, find advice and inspiration articles.”
When and why did you start your Company?
“We only launched in December so we are still young!! However, we have already appeared at the National Wedding Show and the London Gay Wedding Show…”
“When I was planning my own wedding a while back I struggled to find unique favours that weren’t mass produced.”
“I originally wanted a site that sold just those, but after seeing so many beautiful things the idea grew and grew.”
“I aimed for a beautiful, easy to use wedding planning site that catered for all couples; whilst supporting British businesses.”
“Now the site features fantastic finishing touches for every aspect of your day (with new items being added regularly), and the most fabulous, wonderful suppliers.”
“We also aim to feature some of the most amazing, beautiful and individual venues in the country.”
What inspires you?
“Many of the companies that sell/advertise with us – I am in awe that people can make such incredible things.”
Do trends influence your work?
“I don’t really like to follow trends, as I aim to have products on the site that would be amazing now or in 10 years time – I am a great fan of classic styling and things that don’t date.”
“However there has to be some element of providing what is current, such as the popularity of brooch bouquets and vintage accessories at the moment.”
“.Our articles are also there to help couples with on trend inspiration – many of them written by guest writers.”
What is your greatest achievement?
“I would have to say my son, and launching the site! It is almost like having a second child!”
“It is equally the most frightening and most satisfying thing I have ever done.”
“It took nearly 6 months to develop, and there is still a lot of work to be done until it’s exactly as I would like it – but the team behind it’s creation are now used to my (very frequent) nagging phone calls, and really understand what The GBW is all about.”
What do you see as the future of your Company?
“A tricky one, as I really hope that the company does well for many reasons – but in the future I would love it if couples refer to the site in the same breath as the big sites around at the moment, and that our suppliers get the recognition they deserve.”
Some great featured brands…
Thank so much to Alex for introducing this fabulous new Wedding Planning site and marketplace. I love the diversity of suppliers with many brands that we know and love.
